I have set up 4 email accounts in Thunderbird. I tried today to set up another email account with the same domain. selected the New Account Button (email only); then pop up screen to add name of account user and users email address. next menu, TB was successful finding the server but a small yellow flag says "unknown hostname" but lists the 3rd party host, that there is SSL/TSL security and the user name matches the new account information just entered. Incoming settings looked correct. The next screen is Choose email account type and it was auto populated by TB and all info is correct. Next, enter password (for new account?) and TB fails to create a new account. Says Authentication error unable to log in at server. Tried doing the manual config. Outgoing server protocol shows SMPT when it should be IMAP (correct?) but the field is un-selectable. So results are same, Unable to log in to server.

the manual config screen has a host name field and it is autofilled with my company's name.domain but it is misspelled! Tried to edit but no success. I really need to get this new account up quick! So asking for any help available.

I'm on TBird 153.0.2esr after a recent update. On previous versions the "Get Messages" button in the top left side of the menu's was working fine. When the button was selected, an update was displayed in the bottom left frame of the window. The update would say something like "Connecting to ..." and the message would be downloaded from the server. Great...

If there were no messages on the server, the update would display "There are no messages on the server". With this current version, I don't see any messages in the lower left frame of the window.

This is a convenient feature of the app, as I like to check the server for messages prior to shutting down. It's also convenient for getting messages with a security code without having to wait for the next scheduled message download. Now I can only assume there are no incoming messages when I push the button and don't see anything in my Inbox.

Dear Mozilla Development Team, Please reinstate this feature for upcoming versions of Thunderbird. Oh, BTW, this is a great app that I use daily for email. I use the calendar as a log book for my daily activities as well as an appointment scheduler. Thanks for your attention.

P.S. I see a new version is available (153.0.3esr) today (8/14/26), so I'll update and see if the same issue occurs.

I get the messgae 'Unable to write email to the mailbox...make sure the file system allows you write priviledges and you have enough disk space.' When I looked at the errors Thunderbird recorded I found thei:

I recently had to restore my thunderbird app as I had issues with my laptop. I do not run Avast...I have tried the 'repair' option in folder properties in thunderbird. Nothing seems to help. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me. I have been using Thunderbird for....well it has been aloooong time and I have never had any issues with it previously. I am running WIn 11 Pro.

I find now that Thunderbird requires Earthlink's password each time an email is sent. Earlier it required it once a day. I am on Windows 11 using Earthlink.net for provider.

I sent an email to my mechanic today and another site attached a CC to their Website. It is weird I didn't send an email to them support@bloominto.co, yet I received a reply and there was a CC to my mechanic in it.

How is it possible?

Hello I am having difficulty in sending message for 2 of my email addresses through Hostinger. My ither accounts through Hostinger works fine. See pic attached for the error message. Please help and advice. Thank you

I just replaced my WiFi router and was able to get 5 messages after new network set up, but now it can't connect to outgoing or incoming mail server.. I double checked all my setting with Spectrum and all looks good, but won't connect.

TB recently prints unwanted text/information, this also happens while forwarding certain e-mails. As shown in the attachment TB wants to print seven pages although the original mail has only one.

What can we do?

I want to use thunderbird on a Windows 11 laptop. Tell me how to connect Thunderbird to send and receive emails from email account, jds@sefcik.net, hosted at smartmail.buz.net.

I want to change the default download protocol accessing the mail server from imap to pop3. I went into the account settings & changed the default selection from imap to pop3. But the change does not take effect. Tbird still accesses the server using the imap protocol.

Many of my emails received are auto marked/shown as having been read. This means I never know which of my many emails received are new and which I have already read. Particularly annoying as I have a number of aliases and a number of folders to put them in. I am actively considering going back to MS Outlook, which would be regressive.

Email will not send. Message-- "Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Email rejected. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again." I am not sending to another person but testing with my personal email. Thank you.

Mail filters for custom headers like List-Unsubscribe, Authentication-Results or Received-SPF copying messages from IMAP accounts to Local Folders do not work on the Yahoo! IMAP account. For example:

Filters1 and 2 work well on other IMAP accouns, like for example wp.pl. So this is about Yahoo or something is corrupted. My question is, what wrong is here ? And by the way - how to create filter copying all messages from IMAP to Local Folders ? Is better way then filter3 looking for random string in the subject or somewhere else ? Thank you.

I get this message everytime I try and send emails

When I delete mails they remain in the Gmail All Mails folder. I have set the setting to move deleted messages to Trash (attached) and I always Empty the Trash manually. In All Mail all the deleted mails are present. In the attached screendump from Gmail webmail it is the mails without any labels in front. (I have unsubscribed to All Mails in TB, but previously these messages would show up as only present i All Mail when searched in TB). Is there a synchronization problem? I have noted that there are two Trash folders in Gmail webmail: 1. in:trash (where Gmail webmail is putting deleted mails which do NOT show up in All Mails) and 2. label:[imap]-trash (where TB is putting deleted mails which DO show up in All Mails). Is that the problem?

Additional question: is there an easy way to permanently delete the mails without label i All Mails?

When I start Thunderbird, the same message is downloaded each time.

The status bar then reads "Downloading message 2 of 17," except that 17 is now up to 27.

Thunderbird remains in this state. No second message is ever downloaded.

When I close down and restart Thunderbird, it's Groundhog Day all over again.

Trying "Clear Recent History" has no effect on the issue.

I am on Thunderbird 150.0.2 (64-bit) on the release update channel. I'm on a Windows 11 HP Envy Laptop purchased in July 2025.

I have installed Mozilla ThunderBird Previously on many machines. Am Familiar with Incoming Email Servers and OutGoing Email Servers ... Also special ports ... POP ... and .... SMTP ... IMAP ... ETC ... GBGB On this Machine ... Dell Latitude ... 128 GB SSD ... 8GB RAM I have Mozilla ThunderBird Installed for as Single Email Account ... OverstreetENGR@Juno.com

When I REPLY to Emails , THIS IS the error message that I get : Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.juno.com timed out. Try again.
