I have an IMAP email addy that will not send or receive from my laptop since the update done Oct 28th. I get an error pop up message that says "The IMAP server securemail.webnames.ca does not seem to support encrypted passwords. If you have just set up this account please..." (I can't see the rest of the message and if I click on it, it disappears) All my other email addys work as before, it's just this IMAP one that no longer works, and only on my laptop - I can send and receive from that addy on my phone without a problem, but this particular email address is for my business and I often need to retrieve documents that reside on my laptop to send as attachments. I am able to access my incoming emails from the webmail option but it is clunky and not efficient to have to switch between that and Thunderbird email. Anyone else having this issue since Oct 28th? TIA for any help that can be offered :)

I need to sync my i-Phone's gmail with my desktop (iMac) Thunderbird. Following help instructions, it seems I need to do something with Synchronization & Storage but I do not see that option on the email account in question. The advice to have S & S visible was to make sure the setting is IMAP not POP which I confirmed it IS IMAP.

I'm stumped. Please help!

After closing the In Box, you'd think there'd be some simple obvious way to open it again. But no. The switch is hidden. Your Help agrees that the switch is nowhere to be found in the Menu Bar (as it obviously ought to be), but that it can be found in the Tool Bar.

The Tool Bar is not found in the Menu Bar either (as it obviously ought to be). Short of relaunching the program, what am I to do?

Did the designer of the interface have an addiction to video games? In video games everything is hidden, as though it were FUN to poke around looking. I have never played a video game. They are not fun. They are a waste of time. All commonly used email tools and windows should be accessible under the Menu Bar. Please fix your program. Meanwhile, please tell me how to open the In Box after closing it. Thank you.

I set some filter to local copy different email to local folder an delete them from Gmail to reduce the amount of email in Gmail. Normallly while working I let Thunderbird in background downloading the email and then I read the email locally.

Today I noticed that the downloaded email that I havent previously opened on Gmail are blank, even the source is blank.

Is it possible to solve this, because I already deleted all the downloaded email from Gmail. It's another filter.

Very strange. I have a solar company that I am dealing with, and recently some of the emails do not come through to TB I know that they are sending correctly because when I check on my providers web interface they are there. I have deleted all of the Filter just to make sure, and they are not in the Junk or SPAM folders. Some do come through but others do not. Any ideas? This just started in the past few days, before that they all came through

Hello,

I recently reinstalled Thunderbird and lost some of my message filters. I recreated the filters that move a message to a folder in another email account.

The move filter does move the message but it remains in the original email account. When I filter the original email account for "All Mail" the message can be seen as unread.

From what I recall this was not an issue before.

I just upgraded from 115-something (sorry I don't remember) to 128.4.0esr.

Before I upgraded this morning, I could start typing a name or e-mail address, and it would fill the rest. This worked whether I was writing an original message or adding one to a reply.

After I upgraded this morning, it stopped doing that and I can in no way get it to do so. How do I fix this?

If the answer is I don't, how do I go back to 115? This makes using TB absolutely too difficult for me. E-mail is my primary means of communication.

I am running macOS 10.15.7 (Catalina) on a MacBook Pro, mid-2012. (Don't tell me to upgrade my hardware unless you are volunteering to pay for it!)

Hallo Community, ich benutze Thunderbird 128.3.3esr (64-Bit) und habe seit einiger Zeit ein Problem. Wenn ich Mailadressen aus dem Impressum von verschiedenen Internet Seiten wie Kaufland.de oder Netto.de in das Mail Programm einfüge kann ich diese nicht versenden. Auch kommt während des Schreibens der Hinweis das die Mail nicht gespeichert werden kann und der Button "Senden" ist inaktiv. Siehe Bild. Auf den Hilfeseiten bei Thunderbird wird mir ein TLS Netzwerkverschlüsselungsprotokoll als möglicher Fehler angezeigt. Auf Nachfrage bei meinen Mail Anbieter 1&1 wurde mir gesagt das es so was bei denen nicht gibt. Woran liegt es das diese Mails nicht mehr verschickt werden können? HELP! This new version installed today, and Thunderbird suddenly stopped running and no longer runs. I get the message: "A newer version of Thunderbird may have made changes to your profile which are no longer compatible with this older version. Use this profile only with that newer version, or create a new profile for this installation of Thunderbird. Creating a new profile requires setting up your accounts, calendars and add-ons again."

The message seems erroneous because it is running the newest version. Should I step back a version? If so, how do I do that?

I use Thunderbird 128.2.0esr (64-bit) to read mail from the Outlook server; these are the folder mappings:

imap://<email>@outlook.office365.com/INBOX imap://<email>@outlook.office365.com/Sent imap://<email>@outlook.office365.com/Drafts imap://<email>@outlook.office365.com/Trash

I used to also be able to read the Junk Email folder from the Ourlook server the same way, but the folder disappeared from my Thunderbird a couple of months ago. I tried re-adding it as a sub-folder, which is how I created it in the first place, but it won't appear on the list.

I'm not sure what else to do here. I don't know where the Thunderbird directories are stored locally any more, I'm using Ubintu 24.04.

Thunderbird asked me three times if I would let it make changes on my hard drive, and foolishly I said no, because i was very busy. Now Thunderbird will not allow me to send any emails, and getting them is slow. How can I get tell it now to make changes? I've looked at my downloads, and found lots of Thunderbird things, and have allowed lots of things to change my hard drive, but cannot find the right one. I have re-booted Thunderbird, and one email got through, then all others failed. I would really appreciate some help please. Thanks, Barbara

I have been using a email client since 1999, Outlook express at first and later thunderbird for almost 20 years. I have a hotmail (pop) account and a Gmail ( pop) account. Last friday, thunderbird got blocked and could not complete to download 6 messages. I had to stop de program. Those messages were visible on the webmail but Thunderbird never succeded to download them. I have had to forward them to myself to have them to get into my inbox. I removed a program called RAV endpoint protection that got in my computer recently and i tought it could be the cause. Later I noticed that all my all email i had since 1999 had disappeard. I have removed and reinstalled thunderbird yesterday. Now I can only see the email arrived since the new installation. Il have other accounts, imap and older email are still visible. Where a all those hundred of mails now? How can find them back? Many of them are still on the webmail but i have deleted many old one because i tought they were keept safely in thunderbird.

I deleted more 10,000+ emails in the last 4 weeks. Then, all 10,000+ were added back to my Thunderbird account in the past 2 weeks. Hence, my pc is slow as slow as molasses. For example, it takes almost a minute or longer to move from one message to next one.

1. Why? 2. I do I need to do to prevent this from happening again (if the system allows me to delete these 10,000+ emails again)?
