Is there a Firefox setting that automatically clears cookies? When I turned my computer on, it had been cleared of cookies since the last time I had it on a few hours ago, but I didn't do it. No one else here to use the computer but me. I don't want cookies cleared automatically. How do I change it back to manual? I use Firefox Browser 120.0

thank you

For the past few days, Firefox has been freezing up. By playing around with it, I've found that it's still functioning, but it ceases to update visually. I'm not having the same issues with any other program on my PC, I don't see the icon to update Firefox, and I've restarted my PC a few times along the way.

When this happens, it's not just website contents that freeze, but Firefox's UI as well. Hovering a tab doesn't highlight it. Clicking the hamburger doesn't appear to open the menu. Etc...

If I have a video playing when this happens, I will continue to hear it, but the frame the video is on stays in place.

If I click on another open tab, it will still show me the tab it visually froze on, but if I end Firefox with Windows Task Manager & reopen it, the session saves the tab switch, so it's still taking mouse inputs. I've been able to do similar with keyboard inputs by clicking on the address bar and entering a new URL. I don't see anything as I type it, but after using Task Manager to close and reopen Firefox, the site I entered is there.

I can switch between open Firefox windows when this happens without issue, even on the same monitor, and if I pull up something else in front of Firefox and then switch to Firefox it will still display what was last visible in that Firefox window while the bug is occurring.

I have tried disabling add-ons, and actually found that disabling some of them made it happen *more* frequently, not less. Privacy Badger, Auto Tab Discard, & Ad Nauseum specifically. Switching from Ad Nauseum to AdBlock Plus or uBlock Origin neither increases nor decreases the frequency. My other add-ons, like Duplicate Tabs Closer, haven't had any effects on frequency that I can see. With all of my Add-ons disabled, Task Manager shows double the number of Firefox processes.

I tried to clear my history, but I can only select my last 1 hour of history, as clicking on the dropdown box to select another duration will cause the problem to occur & I can't see the other options in the box to select a longer option. The dropdown to select a topic for this question has the same issue.

These are some actions that risk causing the bug to start, but aren't 100% reproducible, and the list is not exhaustive:

  • Trying to click & drag to pull a tab into becoming its own window or to move the tab into another window. (Firefox does not save this movement if it causes the bug, so closing and reopening it will keep the tab in the window it was already in.) This seems to work fine for some sites, but specifically tends to break if it's a YouTube tab.
  • Mid-clicking to open a link in a new tab, if done on several links in a row
  • Clicking on a UI element, like the hamburger button
  • Right clicking on an image and selecting "copy"
  • Right clicking within Firefox
  • Opening Firefox

I have not seen the bug occur at any time that I was not actively providing some input to the Firefox program.

As the subject says, I logged into my work gmail on my personal laptop, and since then my personal gmail (as well as every other gmail I used on this laptop BEFORE logging into my work one) is now under this Administrator, on all devices. I've contacted the IT department and they said they only had my work gmail under their system. More digging around and I found it to be a cookies issue, as Google Chrome (even after logging in and out of all my gmails personal and work) was absolutely fine and so was Microsoft edge.

No matter how many times I fresh install, clear cookies, or change settings in Firefox, my personal gmail is still locked under restricted mode. Linked below is proof that Google doesn't recognize my account under restriced mode, yet Youtube still says I'm being managed.

I would like my google accounts back, and if I have to wipe all my Firefox data and abandon it, I will. I just don't want to use another browser

No matter what I do every time I close Firefox and reopen it all of the sites I am logged into log out.

I have reinstalled Firefox I have tried both beta and Enterprise versions. I have completely wiped all Firefox data from my appdata folders. I have refreshed Firefox multiple times. I have tried to mess with all the privacy, history, and cookies/cache settings and nothing has worked so far.

No matter what I have looked into the problem is not occuring the same for other people. It seems to be local to my PC however, as I am logged in perfectly fine on other Windows 11 PCs in my home.

The only major difference between the last time I used Firefox and now is that I reinstalled Windows11 to fix a bug with its calendar. I completely formatted so there cannot be any left over old Firefox files.

I keep getting signed out of my Google account whenever I close Firefox. I switched the Enhanced Tracking Protection to Standard, and I do not delete my cookies when I close Firefox. I even tried to disable the Purge Trackers option but this didn't help either. I have some dev-tools extensions installed + Adblock and Decentraleyes. It does not solve my problem if a disable them too. Would really appreciate anyone's insight.

Hi there, I have configured Firefox to remove cookies after closing it. At the same time, I have added some webs that I usually use as exceptions, allowing to remember cookies in those. However, I have the following question: if I reject all cookies except for the mandatories ones in a website that I added to my "remember list", does that mean that future entrances in that web will be with only essential cookies?

As an example, if I mark https://www.bbc.com/ as cookies, and the first time I enter I reject all non-essential cookies, next times I enter in the bbc will I be navigating with only the cookies I accepted on this first entrance? Or allowing a site automatically accepts all cookies?

Thank you very much on advanced.

Dear Support, I use Firefox to access Binance trading platform. On it, with the trading view tools, I draw the charts to get an idea where the price is and might go next. I need that the drawing is saved so I can contnue from where I left when I go to that asset again. When I used Windows 10, all the charts were nicely saved and stayed saved for months. Even when I logged in the platform away from home. No, when I switched to a new laptop with Windows 11, the chart drawings are not being saved reliably, sometimes the drawinmgs stay saved, sometimes not. Support people on that trading exchange, and on other platforms, connects the saving of the drawings to cache files on the laptop, but does not offer precise direction how to solve the issue. I am looking for some advice to find the solution? Is it not saved because of Windows 11? Is it not saved because of the use of a different laptop on the same IP? (Pls note, that I knew that I will have to redo the drawings on the charts with the laptop.) Is it because of the setting of capacity of cache? Thank you for your guidance and help. Kind regards

Recently I have run into an issue where any site I am logged into will not save that I am logged into that site if I close the tab or window. For example, if I am logged into YouTube, exit the tab, and open the same site in another tab, I then have to log into my account again.

I have tried this solution already: https://support.mozilla.org/bm/questions/1342460, to no success.

My question was partially answered in a thread now archived, but I am asking for more help removing this cookie if possible. I have tried to do so every time in the past several months I’ve ‘managed cookies and site data’ but it will not go away. (The screenshots are from my latest attempt, the first is when I try to remove the cookie; I select 'remove' then check my cookies again; that's the second image.) Here’s that thread from last year: “a cookie about.(long string of alpha numeric chars).mozilla has started appearing on my computer. What is it and why can't I delete it?” https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1372671 What I can add is when I searched online for that ‘website’ I also found what hobro1 (the previous questioner) did: https://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/applications/tor-browser/-/issues/40175 The info near the top of that site’s page: Torbutton INFO: tor SOCKS: http://expyuzz4wqqyqhjn.onion/static/images/home/png/block-trackers@3x.png?h=70991bcb via --unknown--:cc55771ba6d6e8c6542066863a47e223 (SOCKS is a username I believe.) And that ‘onion/hidden service’ address cannot be accessed unless using the Tor browser. (Oy.) Unlike hobro1, I do not clear my history (though obviously, I clear cookies) so I do have history from 7 months ago, when this cookie (apparently) first appeared. But searching that link in my history brings up nada. I have never to my knowledge accessed ’Tor’; I don’t even know what it is. I have however checked out add-ons on the mozilla add-ons page in the past, something jscher2000 mentioned in the archived thread. So why is Tor or SOCKS tracking me, and for 7 months now?! I’d really like to NOT completely uninstall Firefox! Is there any other possible solution? And should I somehow report this to Firefox if anyone can determine the ‘culprit’ behind this cookie? Thanks for any insight or assistance.

Hello. Can someone please explain why Facebook asks for username/password every single time Firefox is restarted? I do not use cookie-cleaning extensions. They also send a 'login attempt' email and phone notification every time.

Tried with and without Facebook Container. Not using other Container/multi-account related extensions. My settings:

Standard Tracking Protection (allow/block exceptions: none) "Do not track" signal: Always Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed: disabled (no exceptions) History - Firefox will: Remember History

Something recently changed in Firefox and/or Google Mail. Now I am always asked to sign in to Google Mail. The solution for this problem in Chrome is to allow all cookies. I tried that, after clearing Cache, allow all cookies in Chrome but I am still asked to sign in to Google.Mail. I also removed all by Block, Delete cookie Add-ons in Firefox but it's still asking me to sign in to Google.Mail. What fixes this?
