Images not appearing and gmail not allowing login
I have had Thunderbird for years and it was working well until (I assume) the last update. Then there was no longer images in any of my emails. In trying the recommendations for being able to view the images it disconnected gmail from being able to login. I had fixed that problem several months ago by using OAuth yet "re"-fixing gmail login using the once useful instruction doesn't work so now I have two "unfixable" challenges. I would appreciate assistance so I can bring my Thunderbird back to working again.

Well perhaps start at the beginning. What error do you see when you try and connect to gmail?
A small disconnected box appears on the lower right corner saying: "Authentication failure while connection to server imap.googlemail.com"
That might be a clue. Google, while not abandoning the googlemail servers really stopped using them for gmail about the time the service left beta.
Try going into account settings and changing the servers used to imap.gmail.com
I have heard of some odd things happening with oauth logins using the googlemail servers.
Now I get the same little small disconnected box at the bottom right of the screen and it says "Authentication failure while connection to server imap.gmail.com".
And now I have additional mailbox that is not accepting its longtime password — the one to my yahoo mail. I get the following message "Login to server imap.mail.yahoo.com with username collienk@yahoo.com failed." and it allows me to change the password. The gmail account message does not.
It seems to be a cascade of failures. I would like very much to get the gmail account to work as it is the one connected to my phone. The other account is just an extra and I can do without it.
Without a reply to this pleading for help, I assume that there is no solution to my ever increasing challenge. Will I need to wait until the next update they fix it?
