saving login and password on selected sites

Many of the websites I access ask if I want them to remember my login info--username and password. For those that I trust, I indicate that I want them to remember this information, and for most I get an e-mail confirming that my device is registered. However, the next time I log in, I still have to go through the entire login. Is this a Firefox issue, and if so, how can I correct this?

Detail like websites remembering you and log you in automatically is stored in cookies, so make sure you aren't clearing important cookies.

You can use these steps to make a website recognize and remember you.

  • create a cookie allow exception with the proper protocol (https:// or http://) to make a website remember you

You can check that you aren't clearing important cookies.

  • using "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" keeps cookies with an allow exception
  • using "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear cookies clears all cookies including cookies with an allow exception you may want to keep
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exceptions for passwords and other website specific data
  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Exceptions"
  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history":
    [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" -> Settings

What do you mean by "entire login"? If you haven't stayed logged in, you have to log in again. If you haven't kept the cookies and site settings for the site, you have to register them again.

co-rel, the info you provided seems to have solved the problem, at least for the main websites for which I was having the problem. I chose the option of adding exceptions. Many thanks.
