Connecting to established wifi network is slow

Airline in-flight wifi is slow to connect. As in, it takes a fair portion of the flight time, just to connect. But Edge establishes connection just fine. Why?

There is most likely a splash page in my experience on WiFi for flights. Did you go through the Splash Page and accept the T&Cs?
