Tyler Downer says that tabs on bottom is not the standard setup for Firefox. This was denied by others.
What a non discussion! Let users choose what they prefer. tabs on top or bottom. Why the programmers are so violently against tab on bottom? Let user determine what they want as their standard.
As Musicalman7 said, all those hours people spent programming their add-ons. Gone. I believe the developers got blind spots. They must more contact with the users and not give

Why? the developers know about it here. They read it. Give input again is again waisted time.
Reading this question move tabs from top to bottom https://support.mozilla.org/nl/questions/1194851?fpa=1, developers just do what they think is good. Not what users want.
The new API has it's good things, but Porting add-ons to and from other browsers should be easier is nonsense.

Tabs on the bottom hasn't been the default since Firefox 4.0 was released back in March, 2011. But "tabs on bottom" was a user selectable option within Firefox from Firefox 4.0 up thru Firefox 28; Australis Firefox 29 thru Firefox 56 an extension was needed, and it seems that many users forgot that feature was part of an extension and not a part of Firefox for the last 4 years.
As of Quantum Firefox 57 the ability of an extension making that type of modification was eliminated; now userChrome.css is needed to accomplish that modification.
Bottom line is that users still have the ability to have tabs on the bottom, but it has to be done via userChrome.css code
