Right-click icon on Taskbar - I delete 'Frequent' list items, but they re-appear minutes later. What to do?

For the Taskbar FF icon, I manually delete the Frequent list, one by one. Minutes later they reappear, not immediately, but soon after. Or I use CCleaner to clean those out, but again they reappear soon after.

Hi J.C., I suspect you can't edit that list outside of Firefox because it is generated based on a search in your history inside Firefox. You can completely remove that list from the "Jump List" menu if you like. Here's where you tweak what appears on that menu:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste task and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Modify the following as desired:

  • browser.taskbar.lists.frequent.enabled -- double-click to toggle to false to hide the Frequent section
  • browser.taskbar.lists.recent.enabled -- double-click to toggle to true to show the Recent section
  • browser.taskbar.lists.tasks.enabled -- double-click to toggle to false to hide the Tasks section (New Window, etc.)

I think it's necessary to exit and restart Firefox before the Jump List layout gets updated. Or I wasn't patient enough. ;-)

Thanks for that detail, but that only masks what I feel is a bug. I prefer keeping those features enabled, especially for other apps. Just not sure if this bug is FireFox or Windows.

What do you want to appear in the Frequent list, if not the most frequently visited sites based on your Firefox history?

Oh, those settings changes would be made inside Firefox and only affect Firefox's Jump List.

I like the feature of 'frequently visited sites' and 'history' on the Taskbar icon. To ensure clarity, I say again, when I delete one or more on the Taskbar icon, I do not want them to reappear.

By applying several codes in any Java-compatible platforms the users can easily edit and modify these add-on features. To take help from Dart vs Javascript which would be gainful for them certainly.

What?? Code? Gainful for them? What add-on feature are you writing about? The solution is not to be a Java programmer.
