Several add-ons don't work, zoom level does not stick, ...

I want to use Firefox, like Firefox, and enjoy it. I go back to the days of Mosaic and Netscape then moved on to Firefox. But, Firefox has been making my life more and more difficult with each "update."

First, why is there no sticky zoom for all sites that will stay put where I decide? I have to find an add-on to do that.

Second, why do you prevent Grammarly add-on from working on New York Times pages? Even as I write right now, I discovered that it does not work here either?

Third, why do you block Evernote page clipper from saving selections, or even coming up to offer me choices to save different parts of a page?

Fourth, what happened to most of the add-ons? They are either not available anymore or their functionality is crippled.

What is the reason for putting this much obstacle in front of users, security? You will reach 100% security when users switch to other browsers. A browser not used cannot cause any harm.

Whatever your reason or excuse, please come to your senses and realize once more that the essence of what you offer is user satisfaction, not Fort Knox!

As for me, I switched to Chrome, once more, and will very reluctantly come back to Firefox unless you allow me to browse the Internet the way I want, not the way you want.

I wish you well, but I am very uncomfortable using Firefox despite my use of your lineage going all the way back to Mosaic. Please also understand that I am writing these comments in the hopes of pulling you back on track of offering user satisfaction.

Be well! But, farewell Firefox!

Do support staff read these questions or are these posted with false expectations on the part of users?

Addon issue aren't a firefox browser End user help forum. For addon installs and running problem has to contact the addon developer.

Again this is a community support forum where people can discuss (desktop) Firefox issue including with Extensions.

Yes, some may get a better answer from the developer of the extension but it is not a requirement for people to go elsewhere for help with Extensions. Not all extension authors or companies that made it does one on one support so you cannot expect them to rely on only that option for help.

This is a community forum of users helping users as there is no staffed centre doing help on this forum. People who could answer the whole or part of your several questions may not have seen the thread before it went several pages back.

Neither Mozilla or the Firefox web browser is necessarily blocking or preventing Extensions (made for 57.0 and later) from working.

Legacy Extensions versions made for Firefox 56.0 and earlier were removed from https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/ because the old EOL 56.0 and earlier is well not supported since.

Thank you all who provided answers. I saw at the top "Get Community Support" as an option and wrongly thought this was an actual product support forum. I appreciate your replies but my position still remains that Firefox usability is getting lower and some issues are indeed directly Firefox issues. For instance, the zoom level. And if the same add-ons are working fine on Chrome, it is hard for me to absolve Firefox from all responsibility.

It is not the end of the world! Thank you for setting me straight.

I am glad that Firefox finally heard voices like mine and fixed most of these problems, with a mild apology that they recently became aware of the issues! I am back on Firefox.

What problems weren't solved?

Regarding zoom levels, if that problem continues, the "Clear history when Firefox closes" feature can delete the per-size zoom levels if "Site Preferences" are selected for clearing. ("Site Preferences" means your preferences for a site, such as zoom levels, popup blocking exceptions, etc.) There also can be problems if you set privacy.resistFingerprinting to true in about:config.

By the way, threads are archived after 6 months, so this one may be locked on July 7th. For any extensive discussions, it's probably best to start a new question.

Thanks for the heads up, jscher2000. The addons were really important for me, Evernote clipper and Grammarly. They are both working now after months of responses that these were not Firefox's problems.

I am glad that the FF team finally decided to fix them, somehow. For the zoom level, I am using an addon.
