Disable Suggestions in Location Bar

I just did a refresh for the first time in months to see if it'd help with my daily hangs/crashes. Anyway, I turned all my settings back to how I had them, but I'm still getting suggestions in the location bar when I try to navigate somewhere. I'd specifically had these turned off because I've always hated this feature...yet I'm still geting the browser suggesting websites to me as I type. Why can't I disable this with the options provided?

Oh, this maybe should be a seperate request, but I'm also having trouble with Firefox opening PDF files. Sometimes they display and sometimes I just get a buffering simple once the pages load, but it's gotten worse. I did a manual repair of Adobe Acrobat, and refreshed Firefox, but none of this seems to work. I always have to wonder if Firefox will load them when I click on a file of that type.
