If I right click on a favorite and click Properties, FIrefox freezes. If I am playing music (radio) it stops. I also notice brief pauses when I do other things like DL a file or open a page in another tag. This happens on Warerfox also but not Chrome. Any ideas? This seems to be fairly new and I recently updated to W10 x64 version 1703 (Creators). Thanks much and enjoy, John.

Places Maintenance {web link} Allows to run Maintenance tasks on the database that drives Places, the bookmarks and history module behind Firefox.

Open the Add-ons Manager. Locate the add-on and press the Options button. Then follow the directions.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Start your Computer in safe mode. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?

FredMcD, thanks much for your reply. Starting Firefox in safe node did not help. I restarted my system and tapped F8 for safe mode. W10 does not use F8 and no telling what that did to my system but it is unusable now. Have you tried my test? This is fairly new could it be W10 Creators or IPv6?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

Thanks, cor-el. I just got my system back after using F8 for Safe Mode. It looks like I have lost my backup disk drive. I ran some more experiments and find that this only fails when I am listening to SiriusXM. YouTube and TuneIn continue to work. I hope to try a real Safe Mode tomorrow. Thanks and enjoy, John.

I have been doing many tests on three separate PCs. It fails on two of the three. All are running the same basic SW. It fails both on Firefox and Waterfox. I cannot identify a common cause except Firefox based browser. All systems are running W10 x64 Pro (one 1703, two 1607). All are running the same AV at the same level. I have not tried PC Safe Mode but I have found a work around. The right click-Properties is a quick way to expose the problem, the real problem is skips in the audio only on SiriusXM. By using the SIriusXM MiniPlayer, I get no skips and I can right click-Properties with no problem. I really believe this is a Firefox problem but have spent more time on it than I planned and now that I have a work around, I surrender. Thanks much for your help. I will occasionally try the full player to see if the symptoms are gone. Thanks and enjoy, John.
