These two features bundled in the latest version it seems... also would like to delete browsing history after 30 days or so, but not anymore possible.

Hi

You might want to try an add-on called Download Cleaner. It has an option to clear the download history on exit.

There are specific privacy.clearOnShutdown.* prefs to set what gets cleared on shutdown. There is one for downloads, so you can give this it try to set this pref to true.
