Never had a problem with thunderbird before this. Still running windows xp. Thunderbird runs when first booting computer and after closing the program it continues to restart after a few minutes of being off. Tried closing with both the x and through the menu "quit". Somewhere its getting a command to start and I cant find it. Using ver. 31.4.0

could it be you have malware or another program trying to send mail?

More info! Malware is probable ,Maybe . I have 3 login profiles at computer boot-up. Mine is the only one that has a thunderbird account. On My login thunderbird just starts and restarts after closing the program. I can access my account ok .On the other logins an extra splash screen appears wanting to know if I want to set up another email account with a box automatically checked next to "ghandi.net" . After clicking on "skip this and use my existing email" then the "email setup" page appears. Then hitting "cancel" thunderbird goes to its homepage. Acts like its focused on satisfying itself to setup accounts for the other 2 logins. But I think only because it starts itself (or by something else) on the two non account login profiles which starts the so called "create an account procedure.

I have already run updated scan of Avast anti-virus, Malware Bytes, and Spy-bot Search & Destroy. Only found Tracking Cookies.

Ghandi is a paying partner that Mozilla messaging signed up to provide paid mail accounts.

Microsoft offers instructions on a clean boot. I suggest you try them in the first instance and see if it offers a cure.
