why won't bookmark toolbar keep bookmark

I add a bookmark to the bookmark toolbar and it shows. When I close the browser and re-open it it isn't there.

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
