I have been reminded many times that I am not using the most recent version of FiefFox [7.0.1] and I down load & save it, but I see not instructions or links to use to actually activate or upgrade to it (?)
I have been reminded many times that I am not using the most recent version of FireFox [7.0.1] and I down load & save it, but I see not instructions or links to use to actually activate or upgrade to it (?) I can't figure out how to upgrade ti it. Should it not do that automatically when I download the newer version?

Your UserAgent string in Firefox was messed up by an addon that you installed. -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Agent
Type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page. Filter = general.useragent. Right-click the preferences that are bold, one line at a time, and select Reset. Then restart Firefox
You can see the currently used Firefox version at the top of the Help > About window.
If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version and delete the Firefox program folder to remove any leftover files.
- Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
- Firefox 7.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Uninstall your current Firefox version.
- Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
- Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
