Better to *look for one of their mailing lists http://www.mozilla.org/about/forums/#general-development *or use the feedback option from a current Release to leave a short comment https://input.mozilla.org/en-US/feedback

Today 18-Jan-1014 I was forced to update java to be able to run a site that uses it. My Java version is now 7.0.510.13. I keep getting blocked messages, the more info says: Java Plug-in 10.51.2.13 Using JRE version 1.7.0_51-b13 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM User home directory = C:\Users\kodman

c: clear console window f: finalize objects on finalization queue g: garbage collect h: display this help message l: dump classloader list m: print memory usage o: trigger logging q: hide console r: reload policy configuration s: dump system and deployment properties t: dump thread list v: dump thread stack x: clear classloader cache 0-5: set trace level to <n>

I have activated and enabled everything. I really need this to run. BTW I can't get it to run in IE either. Ideas?

UPDATE! It has nothing to do with Mozilla at all. After upgrading Java the Java Control Panel shut it down by default. The solution is here: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/jcp_security.xml#control%20panel

It will look like a Mozilla problem since that's where the error message pops up, but this is a false alarm. Suggestion to developers: It there any way we could give the user more info than "your security setting has blocked an untrusted application from running"?

odman,

You are replying to a question posted August 2, 2013 by someone else (this question will be archived 180 days from that date, on or about Feb 1 2014).

See Forum rules and guidelines: ... For support requests, do not re-use existing threads started by others, even if they are seemingly on the same subject.

If you have a question about Firefox, you can use the link in the Get community support article or this one:

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link: https://input.mozilla.org/feedback

HOWEVER, you wrote, It will look like a Mozilla problem since that's where the error message pops up, but this is a false alarm. Suggestion to developers: It there any way we could give the user more info than "your security setting has blocked an untrusted application from running"?

That's actually a JAVA error message:

Java security prompts

Starting in Java 7 Update 21, even though you activate Java, you'll still see a security dialog (such as the one shown in this screenshot) asking you to confirm that you want the Java content to run. See the Java Help page What should I do when I see a security prompt from Java? and Oracle's Java Control Panel documentation for more information.

If you see an "Application Blocked" dialog with a message such as Your security settings have blocked an untrusted application from running, then Java has blocked the content for security reasons. Starting in Java 7 Update 51, Java applications and applets with certificates from an untrusted source (self-signed) and those with no certificate or missing application Name and Publisher information (unsigned), are blocked by default. Sites that would normally be blocked based on your Java Security settings can be added to the Exception Site list via the Java Control Panel, as explained here and in the Java Help page How can I configure the Exception Site List?. The Java Help page Why are Java applications blocked by your security settings with the latest Java? includes steps to Add URLs to the Exception Site list and mentions some common Java applications that are now blocked. For more information (including instructions specific to Mac OS) see this wordpress article.
