How can I stop my tablet from opening a new tab every time I switch to Firefox? It’s the worst when I’m trying to get information quickly into another app. I’ve looked through all of the settings and it’s not there. I’ve tried typing about:config and it does nothing except show the new tab window.

Someone please help. I’ve seen an answer from a question about a decade ago but things have changed now and there is no “options” if that’s the next suggestion. All I see is Settings now, and no options to change this in there either. This should be obvious right?

Hi - I’m experiencing that the Firefox app on my iPhone (iOS) has a bug where it’s causing it to automatically switch search engines from the search engine I have set in settings to another one that I have disabled. It’s becoming extremely annoying & frustrating that I have to go in and reset it every time it does it - which is close to four times a day. Also I’ve noticed that I can no longer delete search engines I don’t use. Please fix.

Firefox iOS updated this morning to 143.1 In private browsing it’s in dark mode automatically and won’t change even if changing to light in the settings.

The latest version of Firefox won’t save my custom search engine as the default. When I force close the app, it goes back to DuckDuckGo.

iOS 26.1 Latest version of Firefox.

After the latest update, my default search engine in Firefox keeps automatically changing to Google, even though I’ve repeatedly reset it to Kagi. This seems like a bug, but let me know if there’s anything I can do on my end to make the change stick!

The latest FireFox mobile app on the latest ios does not synch bookmarks anymore. The sync is ON, on all of my devices and also on my desktop computer and the bookmarks sync is turned on where I've installed FireFox. In the past, when I used to bookmark a page on any of my mobile devices, it created a folder called Mobile Bookmarks and added the bookmarks to this folder, then on my desktop, in the bookmark manager, I'd copy them from Mobile Bookmarks folder to the Bookmark Menu folder and the Mobile Bookmarks folder would automatically disappear once it was emptied out.

As of the latest update, the bookmarks on my ios devices just get dumped into the FireFox blank tab workspace. Is this supposed to be a new intended bad design or mishap or annoying feature just creating more work for us?

Also, the Home button at the top of the page, next to the URL bar, has disappeared and it was a major convenience because instead of closing a tab and reopening a new one, I could just press the home button to clear the current tab and start anew. I guess another bad redesign where a developer or ui/ux designer thought it was a useless feature? It was a very useful feature and I see tons of requests on your website to put it back.

Hi! I am using MacOS Firefox and configured:

Delete cookies and site data when Firefox closes.

However I could not find this option in Firefox for IOS or iPadOS and therefore unwilling to use it on these platforms. I find it unconvenient manually deleting those data before closing and I hate foreign software installed on my devices.

Is there any settings I have missed?

How is it possible that even Edge - in addition to Orion - have implemented ways to include extensions within the iOS app, while the Firefox developers keep saying that they can't do it because of Apple restrictions?

Hi! So I have been using the firefox app on my ipad air for a while now and in the last few weeks the following issue has turned up: Regularly, but not always, the app opens a new tab any time I click on a link. Example: I use moodle for work and each time I want to get somewhere in my moodle classes, a new tab opens. When I give the app a fresh start, the issue resolves for a while but returns eventually. I have no idea why but I have to say that it is quite annoying when you have to scrool through tabs all the time. Hopefully, you will be able to help me out. I have been using Firefox since I first started using computers, so for over fifteen years. Initially, I only used it on my PC, but for the past few years I have also been using it on my iPhone and iPad. Until now, I have been a very satisfied user, but for some time now I have been extremely dissatisfied with Mozilla and Firefox. I have been using Startpage as my search engine for many years and Firefox is set up that way on all my devices. But on Apple devices, every time I open the browser, Google is now set as the search engine again and I have to correct the setting every time. I find this patronising, inconsiderate and extremely rude. If this cannot be changed very quickly, Firefox will no longer be my default browser on any device. I would be very sorry to see that happen, but it really is not acceptable. Are you so short of money that you have to rip off your long-standing users? I would be very grateful for a reasonable and helpful response.

Last night I updated my iPhone 11 Pro to iOS 26.1

Since the upgrade I'm unable to have Firefox play audio for a music stream I listen to when the phone goes to sleep/lock or if I use the app switcher to switch to another app, like Maps.

This wasn't happening yesterday when I was using my phone and listening to the same audio stream in my car with Maps open for navigation.

On iOS 18.6.2, the latest Firefox 144.2 keeps reverting my search engine back to Google, at least once daily. I set it to StartPage generally, but have found that any other search engine seems to revert to the Google default. Changing this setting usually is reverted within a few hours, but sometimes it may last a full day though. Can anyone help?

Hi, I’m using a iPad Mini 6 with the latest OS and a up to date version of Firefox. When logging into and trying to use Instagram the browser becomes completely unusable and locks the iPad and sometimes it’s so bad it restarts itself. I was wondering if it’s a known issue and being looked at? It’s been happening for quite a few months now ever since the video autoplay options where implemented.

I am using an iPad. How do you stop firefox from opening a new tab when clicking on a link? I want to it to follow the link in the same tab almost always.

Is there any way the recent changes to the browser on IOS can be reverted in a future update or at least have the option to change the layout ? The recent changes make absolutely sense and are frankly aggravating as a longtime user, It honestly feels like a joke to suddenly have the tab names below the tabs and the tab menu at the bottom of the screen. Duckduckgo is looking more tempting with every recent update :/

The browser won't open a Wall Street Journal article. When opened, the screen goes blank then says "A client-side exception has occurred."

The front pages of the WSJ open with no problem, but pulling up the selected article generates the above.

I don't know what happened, I was using the firefox app an hour ago and came back on to all my tabs gone. Poof into the abyss. I didn't clear anything or close any tabs, I'm not sure how this happened. I clear my history pretty frequently but haven't in a couple days. Even when I've cleared my history in the past, all my open tabs remained so I don't think there's a correlation? These tabs were NOT in the private section and unfortunately I want signed in on the app. I looked up to see if there had been any recent crashes and I didn't see anything. I'm honestly so devastated, I had some of these tabs for a year and they all important to me 😭 I tried to look on this forum for help but most of the answers, seem to be directed toward those who had this issue on a desktop. Again, I am using the firefox app on my iPhone.

Does anyone know if I can get them back? Or see if they went somewhere else. I literally have nothing opened in private that I can see, and like I said, all my tabs in the general tabs section have disappeared. Am I cooked or can this be restored? TIA!!

As of this Morning Wed 5th Nov 2025, message content in my eBay account wont display. Instead I am getting a Red Circle with a red bar symbol when I click on the Message title.
