I did not know where else to post this, but I was looking for a way to run an executable on my PC from a link in the homepage I built.

I do not want to release the info on how I did this for fear of being blocked in future updates, but it was strictly with xml and works in any version. It does not work for internet downloads, only on .exe located on the PC on which it is located and requires the user to click on a link to activate it. There use to be an add-on called openDownload which added a "Run" button to the download manager, but this does not even go that far; because openDownload is outdated is what caused me to look for a answer.

I am not trying to force FF to do something, I have what I need, but there are a lot of people that would like this convenience. My request is that FF add the ability to run a Windows shortcut (.lnk) from a link in their browser. thanks...
