Adobe Flash Player freezes screen, and won't stop debugging

Computer freezes up, cannot close any windows or shut down computer. It displays message, "Debugging Script", with the following choices; continue debugging script, stop, close. But, it won't close and continues looping. 

Uninstalled Flash Player and problems never occur again. However, without Flash Player, many apps won't work, ie weather map loops.
I would like to find a substitute for Flash Player for Fire Fox.
