Can't open magnet links

Suddenly firefox won't open magnet links. Says it can't understand it. Here's the message:

Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (magnet) isn't associated with any program or is not allowed in this context. 

   You might need to install other software to open this address.

I've got utorrent installed. always have had.

It always used to handle it okay. Only thing I've done is run adwcleaner and a couple like that. Could that have screwed things? How to fix it? Read the old thread (year ago) and it doesn't help. My browser won't even do what it says to do: about;config and such, it won't search for that "enter... whatever" thing.
