I consider release 28 the last of the good releases. Am I the only one that feels this way or are there others?
Release 28 was the last version that allowed us to add toolbars, put icons on new and old toolbars and truly customizing the browsers for our use. Other things like separate the search window and the URL window of different toolbars to make the use faster.
Sooner or later, I know I will have to upgrade if this "dumbing down" continues, or try to find another browser but I have been on this browser almost since I left Netscape and started using Firefox many, many years ago.
Most I know hate Google, Chrome for its "clean" look, that is, removing options and hiding command icons so we have to hunt for them. But, it looks like the developers of FF used to work on IE or Chrome as now I can not tell much difference. What you can see is way TOO simple and hidden.
Am I alone in this feeling of FF going in the wrong direction? The other browsers have "dumbed" down theirs for the novice or people that use only email but not the serious users like the FF user. IF I am the only one, then I will go away and try to keep up with these "dumbed down", clean, blank, versions.

You certainly are not the only person who likes various aspects of the earlier user interface, as you can tell from the popularity of the Classic Theme Restorer extension. If you haven't already explored it, you can learn more about it in this article: How to make the new Firefox look like the old Firefox.
