After virus/malware, Mozilla was corrupt. Malware affected both MZ and IE - some type of Java issue and browser hijack. Perhaps still not cured. After removing and reinstalling, Mozilla won't launch (but firefox.exe process is running in taskmanager) in regular or safe mode.
