How to Sync Thunderbird Calendar with Iphone Calendar - Solved.
Here are the instructions on how to sync a Thunderbird Calendar with an the IPhone calendar.
Most email providers that host POP3 and IMAP accounts also provide remote access to the email accounts and associated calendars hosted on the mail server via a web browser.
This solution uses the CalDAV feature to synchronise a Thunderbird network calendar and an IPhone network calendar with the same calendar hosted on a remote email server.
Create a new Thunderbird remote network calendar using a remote web calendar supporter by an email provider.
1 - Get the Caldav URL Link from your email provider.
E.G. Your email address is xxxx@iinet.net.au and your email provider is IINET.
Log in to your IINET webmail. Select calendar. Select sync. Read the instructions.
You can connect to Atmail's CalDAV-based calendar server with many different clients, including iCal, Mozilla Lightning/Sunbird and even your iPhone. The procedure varies from client to client, but all will ask for your calendar server's network address and may require authentication credentials. You can find this information by highlighting the desired calendar and clicking the "*" (gear sign) button(bottom left hand corner of screen); this will bring up the settings for the selected calendar, including network address. Your calendar's network address, username and password may or may not be the same as for your email address; ask your system's administrator if you're not sure.
Contact IINET support and ask for the CALDAV network address of your web calendar.
The network address will look something like this: https://mail.iinet.net.au:2080/rpc/calendars/xxxxx@iinet.net.au/calendar:12345CCCCC
Add the remote IINET calendar to Thunderbird on your PC.
Select Calendar > New Calendar.
Choose "On the Network" and click onto continue.
Choose "CalDAV" and enter your calendar URL (location) and username. The username is normally the email address provided by the webmail provider. Click onto next.
Enter a name for your calendar and click onto next.
Give the calendar a name and link it to an existing email account in Thunderbird.
If there are two calendars linked to an email account, Thunderbird will prompt the user to select which calendar should be used for a meeting invitation sent to that email account.
Click on next and create the calendar.
Right click on the new calendar and select synchronise calendars.
Right click on the new calendar and check the properties.
Once you have added the calendars and authenticated to the server you will then see events displayed. From this point forward it will automatically sync with the Groupware database to pull any new events. The sync works in both directions. If you add an entry through Thunderbird it will sync to Webmail.
The remote IINET calendar can be synced to multiple instances of Thunderbird on several PCs or other devices. CaLDAV calendars are read/write. New calendar entries on the desktop are replicated to the webmail calendar and vice versa.
2 - Sync the IPhone with the remote webmail calendar.
On the IPhone:
Go to settings.
Go to Calendar.
Go to accounts.
Go to add account.
Select other.
Select Add CalDAV account.
Server will look something like this: https://mail.iinet.net.au
Username - email address.
Password - normally same as for email account.
Description - whatever.
Use SSL - Yes.
Port: 2080 (confirm with IINET).
Account URL https://mail.iinet.net.au:2080 (Confirm with IINET).
3 - Sync the IPhone with the remote webmail calendar.
Enter new appointments on the Thunderbird network calendar and the IPhone network calendar and verify that the appointments are synced between calendars.
