I exported my favourites to MS Edge as a backup as when I install Firefox updates they wipe my favourites. Now it won't import the favourites from Edge. Help!

I backed up my favourites by exporting them to Edge. That way if an update messes with them, I just reimport them. But now I try to reimport them and it fails, there are no favourites in Firefox now. Just as the sentence above. Please help, thanks!
