I don't know if I just have something configured wrong or if this is a bug.
In case it is relevant, I originally came from the K-9 app and imported my settings to the new Thunderbird app. K-9 is now uninstalled.
I have more than one account, and each inbox is set to show in Unified Inbox.
When I get any new email for any account, I actually get 2 of the exact same notification for each email. There isn't actually 2 emails with the same sender and subject line, when tapping on either of the notifications the app opens and there is just the one email.
I thought maybe Unified Inbox had its own notification setting which might explain why I was getting notified twice, but if there is I cannot find it.
I could always try removing all the accounts and re-adding them, but since I have quite a few I would like to avoid that if I can (and why I chose importing from K-9 rather than manually adding and configuring each one).
Thanks for any assistance.

Will Thunderbird use css for text anytime soon? My current version is 128.3.2
Right now it uses the old html code for font size. I would at times like to make the text bigger say for my headings then font size 6 I use the add-on called ThunderHTMLedit to view the code.

Happy to see thunderbird is doing better and better recent years. I think it is now the time to add an option to allow it automatically startup in the background on system startup, which has been asked for several years. That is a really useful option, why not just implement it?
I think there are 2 ways: 1. Just automatically startup in the background on system startup and receive messages 2. Register a service in the background to receive e-mails and pop up notifications, and in this case, we don't need to add this option
The first solution may be easier to implement, but the second seems better? Anyway, thunderbird should have one of them
BTW, add an option to minimalize when click on 'close' button. I know there's an extension for this, so why not just integrate it :-)
Thanks!

I tried to create a default Windows profile with pre-configured app settings, including FF. I created a temporary user, logged in, installed FF and configured it, also installed some add-ons (first of all, ublock origin). Then I logged out, logged as an administrator and moved the temporary user profile to the default profile location (c:\Users\Temp -> c:\Users\Default), and then reset its NTFS permissions. This almost always works for all applications, including Google Chrome. I created a new user and logged in, opened FF. The settings were applied, but the extensions did NOT work, and even the buttons on the toolbar looked like empty squares. At the same time, the add-ons were present in the list of add-ons in settings, although without icons. It helped to turn off and turn on all the add-ons one by one, manually.
After some research, I realized that FF binds its settings to absolute paths to add-on files (*.xpi), specifically in the $profile/extensions.json and $profile/addonStartup.json.lz4 files. Google Chrome, for example, doesn't do anything simular, like the vast majority of applications. Removing these files from the profile will cause all add-ons to be "reinstalled" on first launch and set to a disabled status.
An easier way to reproduce the problem: 1. Run firefox -profile d:\temp\profile1 2. Install some extensions. 3. Rename profile1 folder to profile2. 4. Run firefox -profile d:\temp\profile2 5. Got it!
For what purposes does firefox bind to absolute add-on paths, and how can this problem be solved? P.S. I know about portable firefox from PortableApps.com, but I don't want to use a third-party loader for my tasks.

I have recently updated Thunderbird and Lightning and now lost being able to use the Calendar Tweaks add-on. I want to change the background colour for the today entry on the month view which used to be done by that add-on. I want to be able to set this and other items to my own specific colours. How do I achieve this?

Dear all, Regardless of the theme in Thunderbird I choose, whenever I open a message the background color of the messages is light yellow, what is quite awful and often prevents some message from been read because of the lack of contrast.
I can't find a way to change that. Is there a way to change that, for instance by editing the contents of the XPI of the theme I use?
What should be the CSS code used for that?
thanks a ton for you attention!,

It would be great if FF could support multiple dictionaries depending on the detected language of the typing. More and more of us are using multiple languages, and I think it's a real benefit for FF to support this feature.
I'm digging up this topic because I'm very interested in this feature (and I think many are).

Hello,
i installed Thunderbird after the newest Outlook update and it breaking my e-mail accounts. Now i only have one more problem (everything else works perfectly fine). I have some folders with e-mails in them that are saved on ionos and outlook, but for some reason i can't see those folders on thunderbird. I tryed creating new folders but for some reason not even the new ones show up.
All other e-mail accounts i imported also have folders where i sort my mail and they work perfectly fine. Just this one account doesn't work so i guess it has to do something with ionos. Can someone please help?
Thanks a lot.

I recently updated my MacBook Pro to the latest MacOS (Sequoia). Though I didn't notice it immediately, today when I opened Firefox, all text is displayed in a foreign character set. It is pervasive - I've tried to use several tutorials to reset the language and all settings to default, but so far nothing has worked. I've uninstalled Firefox using AppCleaner (which gets any leftover files in OS folders, as well as the app itself), but a clean install results in the same issue. I've disabled all add-ons and reset all settings to default as near as I can tell. The only time the browser displays properly is when it's in Safe Mode. I'm not sure if this is related to the OS update, but I can't seem to identify any other recent change that could have the potential to cause this problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This is for POP email. The displayed inbox size is incorrect. With my Inbox empty, "Show folder size" shows 10.6 G in left panel of display. This exceeds max folder size of 4G so something is not working correcty. In addition, MBOX Inbox in Thunderbird Profile also shows 10.6 G. This is important to me because this large file size is preventing me from loading Profile on to flashdrive for purpose of migrating to a new computer. Flash drives wil not accept it and give an error message. In addition, I don't want to start a new installation with bad data.

I recently upgraded to Thunderbird 128.2.3esr, and I no longer have the zebra stripes that alternate between my messages.
The userChrome.css file that appears in my profile's chrome folder is:
/* Light green, high-contrast zebra stripes in message list */
-moz-appearance: none !important; background-image: none !important; /* background-color:#99E02E !important;} */
background-color:#EEFFBB !important;}
/* background-color:#AED6F1 !important;} */
background-color:#45A1FF !important;}
Is there a reason that this no longer works? Can it be modified to restore the zebra stripes? Or is there an alternative code that will restore functionality?
Thanks in advance!

Hello, my grandfather uses Thunderbird and has trouble seeing when the text is too small, so I changed the font size in the settings, but this only applies to the window for reading the email and not to the entire application (example below, or on the right there is a font that my grandfather can read but in the titles of emails or menus he has trouble). Thanks in advance!

A delete button is not available for the 'read message' pane. In the older versions of TB around v60, I could have the same toolbar in the inbox and all the panes. Is there a way to resolve this annoyance. I had the upgrade to a later version because MS changed the security settings from 'Normal Password' to 'OAuth2' which apparently does not work with TB v60. Thanks for any help. I have been using TB for many years. btw, I also miss having the 'Account Colors' extension which is not available (or compatible) with the later TB versions.

I had set my email accounts to have T-bird remove messages after downloading. I had easily located this server setting.
Today, the emails of one of my accounts didn't get deleted. So I looked for the setting, both under server settings and account settings. I can't locate it, it doesn't come up in the Search box. Was this setting removed?
