How to restore local folders when upgrading from windows 10 to windows 11

I upgraded from windows 10 to 11 My son was able to recover my e-mail folders, but some large folders are missing and the remainder only have e-mails from 2019 or earlier. How do I recover those e-mails? I am no longer conversant with the current technology or terminology. I need simplistic instructions.

Hello everybody, I have 5 accounts managed with Thunderbird. They are named provider, provider-1 up to provider-4. I don't know, which Thunderbird-Account belongs to which Provider-Account. Is there any possibility to find out, which Thunderbird-Account belongs to which Provider-Account and to save one of these 5 Thunderbird-Accounts on disk?

I have installed Thunderbird with Zorin 18 and it won't show contacts. Google says that Thunderbird has full access to contacts. Attempt to manually add contacts fails with message of "Can't connect to server". I did have to manually add the calendar to make that part work. Is this an uninstall and reinstall (Thunderbird that is) situation?

I recently went back from Thunderbird daily to the release channel when I set up my new PC.

1. On opening an email - The Subject display in Daily Version is Bold and according to the font as set in Thunderbird Settings. Just Perfect. It is not the same in the Release Channel. Looks not so nice.

2. In Release Channel -- under settings If I choose to display the "Name Only" under Message List for address display format. It ignores

3. Release channel is ver 146.0.1 .. If I go back to Thunderbird daily .. will I be able to use the same profile used for the Release channel?

Thunderbird is stating that there are no new emails on my gmail account. There are emails.

As of today (6th Jan '26) TB claims there are no new emails. This is incorrect, they are there on Gmail, and have appeared on my iphone. Can't find any way of getting TB… (ďalšie informácie)

For some time the feature to use color in text has not worked. I deleted and re-installed Thunderbird but no change. I cannot change the font color when typing an email, and making changes in the settings has no effect, either.

I have my "signature" saved as an HTML in color, and it also will only display in black.

Any articles and solutions posted seem to be for people using Macs or some other kind of computer. I have Windows 11 for a Lenovo Idea Pad 5. Thank you in advance for any and all guidance you can offer.

Hello, Sometimes, when I select multiple emails to be deleted, the system only deletes one, and I have to manually delete each remaining message. I have emptied trash, but that doesn't solve the problem. rebooting the computer fixes the problem some times.

FYI - the messages go from displaying in bold to displaying as read messages; but them are still displayed. This is a major pain in the butt!!! What is the solution to fix this. I am using a Lenovo ThinkCenter desktop computer, running Windows 7

I kept seeing a message saying my libero account had failed to connect to server even though messages were still coming in (and going out?) but then my sent Folder started having gaps and messages not recorded. I decided to delete the account before re-entering it. Now, when I try to renter the details the 'new' account fails to appear and there is an error message saying 'incoming server already exists. Perhaps I didn't cancel enough when I deleted - there were 2 options, I think, but how do I now delete this 'preexisting' server connection which is blocking me???

I am trying to send a message to my cousin Gundula Loude whose e-mail address is gcloude@bluewin.ch. Unfortunately, the message is blocked for a reason I do not understand. There has been one other e-mail complaining about this problem but I do not understand why the blocking still prevails. Can you investigate and let me know how I get round this deliberate blocking.

Outgoing email SMTP timeouts after Thunderbird update

Had this problem suddenly crop up since the update of one of my accounts not sending mail due to timeouts. I've not changed any passwords or settings since I had it worki… (ďalšie informácie)

Had this problem suddenly crop up since the update of one of my accounts not sending mail due to timeouts. I've not changed any passwords or settings since I had it working last. The message is the "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) [my workplace's SMTP server] timed out. Try again." one, and it's preventing me from sending any emails.

Specifics:

  • It's one account (my work one: work runs an Outlook/Microsoft mail server).
  • My personal account (gmail) sends fine. Both accounts recieve email fine too, so this is just one direction on one account.

Things I've tried:

  • Switching my Firewall off makes no difference, so it's not a firewall problem
  • It's not that the emails I'm trying to send are too large, one word test emails also don't send
  • Extending the timeout time by 3x doesn't help

I also opened a second computer not yet running the latest version - the account worked fine. Then applied the upgrade and that broke things in exactly the same way as described above. So I'm pretty sure this is an issue caused by the upgrade in some way. Not sure if other people with Outlook servers are having the same problem or if there's any workaround available but would appreciate advice.

Used this for many years.
