Thunderbird v31.4.0 Linux Mint Debian Edition 3.1.2-amd64 Cinnamon 2.0.14

When clicking on a link within an email, the system crashes and the monitor display displays jagged, diagonal lines. A cold boot is required. This can be repeated.

Same results running in Safe Mode.

I am using Thunderbird version 31.7.0 and it keeps randomly crashing when usually when I try to send an e-mail. The e-mail appears to go out, but it is not copied to my send folder. I can keep it working is I use safe mode.

Why does Thunderbird freeze my computer after installing release 38 SOLVED: hardware acceleration = hanging new message notification pop ups (bug 1186755)

Updating to version 38.1.0 Start Thunderbird, Starts up OK. Can view messages and write new emails etc OK. If I select "get messages" OR messages are accessed automatically every 5min. then the whole PC crashes. Three finger salute does not bring up task manager. Only way out is to power cycle.

I have updated to Thunderbird 38.1 running with XP Pro. Thunderbird fails/crashes every time I switch users. We have 3 account profiles and failures occur on all 3 profiles.

Crash reports cannot be sent to Mozilla as errors in transmission occur.

While Thunderbird is working it is good but the constant failures are frustrating.

Since the last upgrade, Thunderbird stops the entire PC when the popup box appears after all messages have been downloaded.

The last auto upgrade included a calendar function, which I switched off as I thought this was causing the problem. But now after all the messages have downloaded, I get the usual pop-up box in the bottom right of the screen telling me I have received x messages but it only half fades in and the whole PC jams. CTR-ALT-DEL does not work and I can't switch to a different window or even click on anything in the Thunderbird screen. The only thing that I can do is hard reboot the PC and switch off the router, which allows me to start up Thunderbird without anything downloading. I am using Windows 7 and Avast as my AV. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thunderbird updated automatically last week. It crashed my computer (not just the program) every time the new email notification box came up. I turned off notifications. That helped, but if my computer loses connection to the internet, Thunderbird crashes. The program is incredibly slow and unstable. When I click on an email, I end up with parts of two windows. Eventually, the system catches up and the screen looks fine. If I try to draft an email, I again get parts of two windows until it catches up.

Thunderbird has been among my all time favorite programs. I have used it for years and have never had any issues until this update. Help!

On window 10. Thunderbird was up to date.

Tried - restarting computer. Signing out of TB in the crash report box. Can't get into safe mode.

in the past, I have noticed that a few e-mails - but not all - are displayed incorrectly as plain text instead of the usual HTML-text. This means that there is no formatting involved, e.g. the font art is not correct. As it seems, the issue occurs when the standard formatting options of e-mails are used by the senders. So if nothing is changed like the font size or colour. If I look at the e-mail on different e-mail programs, everything is alright. I have already ensured that the option View > Message Body As > Original HTML is enabled.

TB 91.5.0 on Windows 10 (with profile folder excluded from virus scan)

The latest update to seems to have resurrected a problem with saving copies of sent emails. Sending works fine, but copying of the sent email to the sent folder causes the send dialog to hang. Disabling the "Place a copy in:" option in account settings eliminates the problem. Using the "Other" option to place it in a local folder works *that is not part of a unified folder* works OK.

I have tried repairing folders and deleting the sent files inside "smart folders" in the profile, with no luck.

I can not get thunderbird to bring over email for 6 days now I get the following error everytime. (Sending of password for user .........................@verizon.net did not succeed. Mail server pop.verizon.net responded: [SYS/TEMP] Server error - Please try again later.) I have tried creating a new password on the server account and restarting thunderbird with the new password . Using TB v91.5.1 on Windows 10 x-64. I have several mail accounts, one of which is for a hotmail.com address. This has been working fine for years, but over the past couple of days, I don't seem to be able to send emails form this account. I can receive them fine, but when I try to send, I get the small pop-up telling me it's sending the message, and the progress bar is at 100%, but it doesn't send the message, it just sits there.

I looked in the error console, but nothing was added when I tried sending.

You can see my server settings for the account in the attached image.

Any ideas? Please let me know if there is any other info you need.

I have Thunderbird installed on two computers.

On one of the computers, emails being held in my inbox are being automatically removed after two weeks (this is not a desirable action, I am loosing important emails), but on the other computer that is configured exactly the same, emails remain in the inbox indefinitely (which is desired).

Both computers are POP and both configured to run the same email account and appear to have all of the same configurations and settings. I saw someone had posted the same problem a while ago and the reply indicated it may be that the ISP or email provider has their settings set to delete emails as per the two week window, but as I can assure you this is not the case, it is a configuration issue with one of the Thunderbird installations, otherwise both of my computers would be deleting the emails while that is not the case.

The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtpauth.earthlink.net failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again."

Good day, I am using Thunderbird with my Office 365 e-mail account. I like pretty much the appearance of Thunderbird, as it is not so crowded as Outlook. Unfortunately very frequently it is "Not responding" and the screen freeze for few seconds. Should wait untill returns to normal condition itself, to continue my job. I did not found any topics into help about that problem and any solutions. With Outlook I do not have the problem described above, but prefer to use Thunderbird. Outgoing mail stalls. The blue line goes across from left to far right and then stops. A "message sent" does not appear. I have waited for 30 minutes and the stall persists, even with a short test message. I turned off my antivirus (Bitdefender) and firewall. Incoming mail is fine.

I have another computer that works well for both in and out mail. Both computers use the same ISP (Netfirms) and have identical outgoing server settings, except for the email address.

I am trying to insert an image file into a signature but it appears as a blank box in messages.

I've looked at a number of responses to people with similar problems, and I've tried the File > New Message route but no luck.

The image file is stored locally, I have tried writing the signature text as HTML and inserting the code, and have also created an HTML file and tried that way. When that file opens in a browser, the graphic appears perfectly.

I often send an email to 140 recipients via SMTP. Until recently it took 2-3 seconds. Now it takes about 2 minutes. My web-hosting company Simply.com is very insistent that their server is not the problem. I use TB 91.7.0 (64-bit) on Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS. I am not sure whether TB updated itself when the problem started. Any help would be appreciated.
