Feedback

I’ve been trying for 30 minutes to find how to just give Mozilla feedback. It’s intentional. These ghouls don’t want to hear how they are ruining our software

This browser has been my preferred way to use the internet for years, after Chrome overloaded theirs with unneeded features that slowed the performance. I switched to Mozilla products because of their lightweight and private browsing options. Today, you pushed an "AI Kill Switch" instead of listening to community feedback that largely demanded the removal of all features using generative AI, and this is my final straw. I don't know who in the company is pushing for this, but if there's even the slightest chance of them reading my words; your product is shit and will remain shit for the rest of it's existence. AI features introduce security risks, slow performance noticably, and have such bad political pr attached to them, there's no crawling yourself back from this. You've labeled yourself as another ai company willing to burn all goodwill from your userbase for the percieved chance at acquiring profit. The bubble will pop, and you and your market value will go the way of every other internet browser that was okay for time but got too big for it's britches. You're an idiot for ever believing the ai hype and deciding to bet your entire company on the gamble. Firefox is, at best, only useful for downloading another browser, now. Way to become a direct competitor with Internet Explorer again.

Is it possible to make a donation to Mozilla without providing so much personal information? I got a message on Firefox today asking for a donation, but when I tried to do that, I was asked for my home address. It's a general rule of internet marketing that people who use the internet would rather do anything than pay for something, so it's bad psychology to impose unnecessary conditions when you're asking for a donation. I don't have to provide my home address when I make donations to other organisations, so why does Mozilla need my home address? I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask this question, but I can't find anywhere else to ask it!

Thanks,

Shaun.

I left chrome and chromium browsers for firefox when it got recommended to me because the main selling point was no AI and no unnecessary bloating functions that slowed it down and that made searches accurate and reliable. Please, instead of trying to add more AI into it, work on removing what you've already implemented.

Like many others, I had switched over to Firefox because it was the most secure and AI-free option out there. I was willing to accept there would be minimal AI "features" as long as I was able to disable them immediately, which I did. Pushing for more will only alienate the users and make the overall user experience worse. I am tired of checking every second picture if it's AI generated. I am tired of seeing AI generated articles. I never read the AI summaries because who knows when they'll tell me to add glue to my pizza to make the cheese stick more. We already have studies that show generative AI affects an individual's capacity for thought. I have people in my life that are being affected by it. Firefox, being the only non-Chromium based browser, is basically a beacon of normalcy in all this bullshit. Don't mess up the trust of your community by stooping so low. If we wanted AI slop we would be using Google Chrome.

I am so disappointing in the CEO's decision to push AI. Firefox has a very dedicated following BECAUSE it does not push AI and all the other shady things other Browsers push. Everyone I know will stop using Mozilla browsers if they continue on in implementing AI.

I have spent so many hours deleting every sneaky file, disabling every program, having all firewalls block any AI. (I really do need to switch to Linux with the amount of time I spend on this lol...)

How do we contact the higher ups? If large numbers of users emailed/heck even wrote (making a point that we will delete our Mozilla accounts if AI happens) maybe it could help? Or a petition?

I am extremely disappointed that the new CEO Anthony Enzor-DeMeo is trying to push AI onto one of the only good browsers left that HASN’T implemented AI. The biggest reason that I switched from Google Chrome to Firefox was because Firefox wasn’t using AI. It’s unnecessary, terrible for the environment, incorrect, and I don’t want it. I will be switching to another browser if AI is implemented in Firefox’s future. Don’t bow down to AI.

I have Firefox set to use the built-in .pdf viewer to avoid Adobe's intrusive AI features. I have disabled Adobe's AI features in the Acrobat settings, that does not seem to apply when Firefox opens the Acrobat reader. Consequently, I have to fight off AI "suggestions" and offers of help when I simply want to read a document from the web.

So I set Firefox to use the built-in reader. After 1-2 seconds, it switched to Adobe, and brings up all the annoying AI features. How can I keep Firefox from switching to Adobe?

As a test, I renamed Acrobat.exe to AcrobatX.exe. Firefox behavior did not change. I also killed all Acrobat-related tasks in Task Manager. My document still displayed in Acrobat after 1-2 seconds, but none of the Acrobat-related tasks reappeared in the Task Manager.

I am using Firefox 145.0.2 64 bit in Windows 11 with all updates current.

Many thanks for advice.

The recent news that Anthony Enzor-DeMeo is pushing for Firefox to integrate more AI.

I have used Firefox as my primary browser for 20 years. In that time, I have consistently advocated for its use in private and public forums (albeit with very little reach), in large part because it is a browser that does what I want, works, and doesn't shove a bunch of crap I don't want in my face. I recently read Waterfox's statement making it clear that they aren't going to do this, and that's the first time in my entire adult life that I have considered switching browsers.

I was already upset that I had to go disable AI features which were, for some stupid reason, enabled by default in the most recent versions. I do not want this garbage. I know I'm not alone. It would be annoying but easily ignored if these AI features were produced as mozilla-designed plugins or extensions, but for a browser that cares about privacy and security, this move is frankly inexplicable.

Please change course. This is one of the few organizations I actually have some level of trust in; it would be nice if you didn't squander that over some fancy new toys that nobody asked for.

(And, frankly, if you're going to ask us to fill out a survey, not having a question about this big new change and movement from the company is an... interesting choice.)
