I want to use a local html file as my new tab page. Currently there is no easy way to do this as far as I can tell.

Firefox at some point has removed the in-built option to set the new tab as a local file. Setting the home page as a local file is possible. But setting the new tab as either home (note, not 'Firefox Home') or explicitly the local file is not an option (see attached image).

Previous forum posts point toward New Tab Override extension. However, in recent releases, add-ons cannot offer a work around as Firefox no longer allows add-ons to access local files. In the image attached, New Tab Override extension shows that it cannot use a local file as the new tab. It can however take a file and store it somewhere it has control over. This means every time I edit the local file, I need to manually re-upload this to the extension in each instance of Firefox. It is no longer a good option.

I am sure I used this feature not too long ago and it feels like a very simple thing. I am sure I must have missed some setting or option. Any help achieving this would be greatly appreciated.

PayPal pops up a window, which I want to dock as a tab in the main Firefox window.

How do I do that? The "natural" way was to grab the popped-up window and drag it onto the hamburger menu. A quick search only revealed a preference setting to force pop-ups to be tabs, but that is before-the-fact, whereas I would like an after-the-fact solution.

Thanks in advance.

You can see in the picture that it gets cut off.

Here's the pdf of the picture: https://mega.nz/file/6wwBUIaC#swNET5o7oGArqOuhxLqGhsPKElxznIe2aqvI0TFKO5E

If you see weird overlapping text, then just reload the page. idk why firefox sometimes doesnt finish loading the page…

As an aside: How do I keep the local links (that are in the webpage) in the PDF that Firefox generates?

Hi community,

I found I cannot open any local directory, like "file:///home/". Firefox keeps loading but shows a blank page. Actually I found I cannot open PDFs by Firefox first, and then I found I cannot open any directory. I think these two issues are related.

Does anyone have some idea about this issue? OS: Manjaro Linux Firefox: 80.0.1

Thanks.

In `userChrome.css`

   #TabsToolbar {
     visibility: collapse;

completely hides the tabs toolbar. I would instead prefer the following behaviour: 1. Tabs toolbar is hidden by default. 2. Drag mouse to the upper edge of the browser window OR press keyboard shortcut. 3. Tabs toolbar is revealed and actionable upon (tabs can be clicked, etc.). 4. Drag mouse pointer into area not occupied by tabs toolbar. 5. Tabs toolbar is hidden.

Please, advice on the change to `userChrome.css` to implement it.

I am using Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS. I have installed the latest version of Firefox. However, Firefox does not play Vimeo videos. The video's title frame downloads and the loading button displays but the video never starts. Interestingly, the video plays very well in Chrome.

I have already done what is recommended in the following webpages: https://linuxize.com/post/how-to-install-ffmpeg-on-ubuntu-18-04/ https://vimeo.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015677227-Troubleshoot-player-error-messages https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1206076

But none of these solutions have worked. Could someone help me on this? I prefer using Firefox to Chrome.

Hi all. Mozilla Firefox is very slow on my Linux Laptop with the Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565/AR9565 Wireless Network Adapter (with open-source driver ath9k). It takes a lot of time to resolve hosts and to load the webpages.

I am reporting the issue here because Chromium and the rest of web explorers work good and they are as fast as one may expect. When using Windows 10 with the same laptop, Firefox also has no issues and works perfectly well. It appears to be an issue of the combination of Firefox + this specific driver & network adapter.

Used Manjaro, Ubuntu 16, Ubuntu 20 with a lot of kernels ranging from 4.15 to 5.8 and the issue persists and does not seem to be tied to any specific distribution.

I can do some tests if you require so.

Please note that my question is not about preserving preferences. I've searched and found many Q&A threads on preference preservation, but I don't think that is my problem or issue.

What I'd like to do is to make some Ubuntu desktop menu shortcuts to launch specific web-based apps, in individual windows (I suppose separate instances and new-window) of specific size, with a given specific URL, hopefully with it's own icon, sort-of replacement of desktop apps. So in the Desktop menu I should be able to see 'Google Meet' (for instance) as an application with it's own icon, but clicking it launches Firefox with Google Meet's URL, and a window that is just 800x600 in size.

However, when I try to launch windows on Ubuntu MATE (also tried Lubuntu, and standard Ubuntu... all 20.04), firefox seems to ignore --window-size command line parameter, and all new windows are of exactly same size, which is the default size apparently, ignoring the command-line parameter. What gives ? How can I do what I am trying to as explained above (from firefox standpoint... I know how to create Ubuntu .desktop file etc.).

cheers, B

Greetings - I am using Firefox on Ubuntu 20.04.1. When I try to log on to a secured DoD site, I get the certificate selection pop-up. Normally, only two of three certificates are displayed. How do I edit that window to display all certificates on the CAC card? Thank you for your time.

I'm seeing breakthrough of the background when Firefox is open on my second monitor.

This seems to occur when the window on the secondary monitor is minimised, then maximised and mouse over the image on the secondary monitor (second is right hand side) - see image.

Initially I thought this was a graphics issue but this does not occur when I repeat the steps with other applications. I have also tried it with Chrome and Chrome does not display the same behaviour. I do not see this behaviour on the primary monitor.

I have reduced the refresh rate from 144Hz to 60Hz and reset Firefox which has not cured the issue. It appears to me that the only application that exhibits this behaviour on this machine is Firefox.

I also started to see this occur on my previous machine which was based on Mint 17 and a different Nvidia GPU and monitors and had been stable for many years.

If there is any further information I can provide, please let me know as I'm loathed to change from Firefox as I've been a fan for many years.
