Mijn vorige versie van Firefox was in het Nederlands. Plotseling is dit veranderd. Nu heb ik een Engelse versie. Dat geeft veel problemen, omdat ik de Engelse taal niet beheers en telkens een woordenboek moet gebruiken.

This is not a question but rather a statement. I am still holding out with version 24.5.0 on my desktop computer though it is getting increasingly difficult to do so. The reason is that I am loathe to give up the convenience of control of the navigation bar. I am using version 52 on my laptops and know what a pain it is to try to turn the navigation bar on or off. Why in the world did they decide to make this difficult? For those of you who weren't using Firefox back when version 24.5 was new, here is what you are missing:

1) In the View menu, there is a “Toolbars” option which lists the “Navigation Toolbar” as one of the things that you can turn on or off the same as the menu bar or bookmarks toolbar. This is THE MOST USEFUL menu option.

2) Ctrl-L brings up a dialogue that says “Open Web Location”. It is essentially the navigation bar but it appears in the middle of the window without having to set the navigation bar on. You can enter the URL but if it is a site recently visited, a letter or two provides a match. I find this much easier than trying to get into the navigation bar with the mouse but I guess that I am keyboard guy. You can also access this dialogue from the File menu.

The convenience of these functions is so useful that I am willing to not be able to access some sites and carry greater risk. I am holding out hope that the control of the navbar will be returned eventually.

An installation of Ubuntu 12 and 14 are possible on one computer with no problems for Firefox or Thunderbird. On a similar computer , also with a dual setup with Windows and Ubuntu, the installation seems to go well but at the first click to load Firefox or Thunderbird either one will crash within 5 seconds of opening. (That is too quick to allow any searching of the software menus.) A point which might be significant is that when the option of "Try Ubuntu" is tried on the "problem PC" , before the main installation, all of the software works normally, including Firefox and Thunderbird. As soon as the full installation take place the trouble with crashes starts. I find it puzzling that can happen on the same PC as the trial was done. I have tried various suggestions with no success. The only other fact which might be relevant is that the same "problem PC" is fine with a dual system of Windows and Lubuntu where both Firefox and an email program (Sylfeed) work perfectly well without crashing. I have tried the same combinations with several different hard drives of the same PC and the result is always the same. A solution would be great to save even more hours of investigations! I am writing this on the "problem PC" but using a hard drive set up with Lubuntu as the problem setup will not allow me any access to the internet or email. I therefore have not tried the automatic troubleshooter with this combination.

so, these hp laptops require you to fully disassemble in order to clean the fan. the bios had shut the fan off; i didn't have a choice. i ended up with a short in the board. see, i don't even blame myself - i did everything right, it's just a crappy design that forces dangerous maintenance to do routine cleaning.

anyways...

i had an old laptop around with a bad hard drive. so, i took the drive out of the machine i just broke and put it into the old one that needed a new drive. given that it'll be cheaper to upgrade the ram in this machine than change the board in the other one, i'll probably stick with this for now.

it booted, read the hardware, etc. seems like it might end up as a minimal annoyance (those boards will come down in price over time, too). the one problem i've got is what i think are encryption problems in firefox. it doesn't seem to want to let me into the sql.

i can neither create nor retrieve history or bookmarks. i get nothing when i type in the address bar, and the triangle doesn't work, either. i'm sure i can find more examples. the root seems to be that i can't get into the sql...

i suspect i could create a new profile, but i need access to the bookmarks, at least. any ideas on a workaround on the encryption - or a better idea of what's going on, altogether?

Our Websense reports are no longer accurate because http://detectportal.firefox.com/success.txt is keeping the end users browser session active. All of our Firefox users are showing an excessive amount of browse time for the month because of this. Is their a setting I can disable within Firefox? Thanks

When I use firefox regularly a message shown firefox update.when update it refresh firefox and finish it. Firefox installed but can not brows any site.

Plugin container.exe doesn't show up in task manager upon opening Firefox. When I try to load a video on youtube, the video is a black box, no buttons or timeline, just a black box.

I've tried: -safe mode -updating plugins -using the Run program to open plugin container.exe (nothing happens) -manually clicking on plugin container.exe in the program files folder (nothing happens) -restarting my computer (3 times) -opening plugin hang ui.exe (nothing happens)

This problem started in the last several days. I get 2-3 repetitions of each of the following before Firefox will open. I click on the OK button as many times as these messages show up to get Firefox to open:

1st msg) The procedure entry point NS_StringContainerInit2_P could not be located in the dynamic link library xul.dll

2nd msg) The procedure entry point ?JS_GetGlobalObject@@YAPAVJSObject@@PAUJSContext@@@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library mozjs.dll

What can be done to get rid of these things? I have tried a Firefox reset. The first time it seemed to stop these messages. The occurrence today started about 30 min ago and a second Firefox reset (~10 min ago) does not cure the problem this time when I check by closing & immediately opening Firefox.

I have replaced the add-ons & extensions I want each time I've reset Firefox. I presume you can see these in the attached Troubleshooting Info.

I have not tried a computer restart this time. Note, I turn my computer OFF every night & restart it every morning.

in previous versions i always had to backup and import my settings & bookmarks to the new veresion do i still have to do this or will they be brought along and applied to the new version?.

Hi everybody, I just re-installed Mozilla and a few minutes ago and then got this new screen in the browser. Is is real and valid?

Setting greater value for "browser.history_expire_days.mirror" (180 days) did not work, browser keeps history only for last 3 months. Version 24. I did not create parameter "browser.history_expire_days_min". Maybe, because of it?

Hello there.....after having to force quit FF for some reason the "Restore Previous Session" option was not available in my history menu. Upon further investigation I also tried typing about:sessionrestore in the url bar and it told me there was not one available. This is very odd as I've done this many times before without any issue. I have probably 100 tabs in 4 windows, of which half are things I really do not want to lose. :-(

Is there a way of reestablishing the previous session or at least a list of the tabs where I could restore them manually? (Going through history is not an option given the time it'll take and how far back some of these go.) I am on Mac OS 10.6 and FF 24 and have backed up the machine in the past two weeks.
