I want to change the name of my Firefox extension from "eBird reviewer utilities" to "eBird reviewer assistant". I thought that it would be sufficient simply to change the name in the manifest:

 "name": "eBird reviewer utilities",
 "version": "1.3.46",

to

 "name": "eBird reviewer assistant",
 "version": "1.3.47",

(This was sufficient for Chrome.)

Firefox on my Windows 11 laptop processed this exactly as I expected, picking up the new version and new name. However, Firefox on my Windows 11 desktop does not recognize that there is an update, it only says no updates available. Likewise, Firefox on my Android phone has not picked up the update.

I noticed that the name on the product page was still the old one, so I tried renaming it there, and bumping to version to 1.3.47.1. On the Developer Hub, the extension is correctly listed with the new name and version (see attached screenshot)

However, my desktop running at 1.3.46 still says "No updates found". (See second attached screenshot)

So my first question is, is the confusion related to the attempted name change? And secondly, regardless of the reason, how do get the update recognized?

I'll be honest, I have strong ethical objections to "generative artificial intelligence" (genAI) on a range of issues, and I have seen no sign that the industry is capable of, let alone plans to address any of them. But I'm not here to debate genAI, I'm here because I require a work enviroment and tools that make it as easy as possible, preferably default, to avoid genAI.

I'm deeply disappointed that the Mozilla Organization has decided to add genAI to label tabs in Firefox. Even if I didn't have ethical concerns, I would still be disappointed at the bogged-down performance and genAI hallucinations that make this change categorically a downgrade.

I respect other users right to do things I find harmful, and the Organization's authority to make decisions. I treat genAI much as I treat smoking, everyone gets to make their own choices, but I have the right not to be exposed to second-hand smoke. Having genAI options default to on is like having somone blow smoke in my face, and when they can't be turned off, it is like having an acquaintence who insists on smoking in my home: I won't have them over (use their software) any more.

I'm in the process of kicking the people who smoke in my house out, and minimising my exposure to "second-hand smoke" (unwanted genAI). I've been a Mozilla user and proponent since the Organization was founded, and was a Netscape user before that, so I don't want to lose an old friend... but I am looking into other options.

saw a post that recommenced to installing K-Lite Codec Pack would help so that i could set 1440p on Twitch because the option is greyed out for me. after installing it, twitch gets hung up and never finishes loading. it loads in a private window, and on edge too. i turned off the few extensions i have but that didnt help either.

i uninstalled the codec pack but im still getting the issue.

if i hit F12 i see theres an error Loading failed for the <script> with source “https://assets.twitch.tv/assets/6411-9f5e77558af00b1acec0.js”.

Every since I updated my MacBook Pro M1 Max chip to Firefox 142.0.1 (aarch64), Firefox locks up & has to be "Force Quit" & restarted almost every day. Please update the app ASAP so I don't have to convert to Google Chrome. Thank you!

Firefox kept eating my RAM, running dozens of processes. I have gone into about:config and set the dom.ipc.processCount to 1 - then I restarted Firefox and found 5 processes running straightaway before even using the browser. I closed it down and have started it again and now there are 11 processes running with just one tab open. The problem repeats on three different computers which are not infected with malware. One computer with slightly less RAM I now cant even use Firefox at all (though all other browsers work fine) because the tabs constantly crash due to the high number of processes. Is there any way to set the process limit low in a way that Firefox actually responds to?

I really like using the "Shortcuts" (Top Sites) feature on the Firefox new tab page. However, there is one problem: Firefox automatically adds new shortcuts from recently visited sites.

I would like to keep only the shortcuts I manually pinned, without Firefox suggesting or adding new ones automatically. Currently, if I disable browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.feeds.topsites, all shortcuts disappear, and if I leave it enabled, Firefox keeps adding unwanted sites.

Could you please add an option to disable automatic shortcut suggestions while keeping only pinned shortcuts? This would make the feature much more convenient for users who prefer to manage their shortcuts manually.

Hey, I've been experiencing my YouTube and Twitch tabs crashing almost every 20-40 minutes and it's been kind of annoying.

Does anyone know if the crashes are because of my drivers or Windows not being up to date? Never had this issue with Opera before.

i just want to be able to add drag space to the top of my browser so i can move the window easily while it's maximized. i have been unable to find the customization section of firefox options and there is also no place on this website to speak to an actual member of support staff. this should be simple
