I get the following message when going online with Firefox: "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional because one of Firefox's files is in use by another application. Some security software can cause this problem." I've followed all the prompts to restart the computer, refresh the computer, delete the favicons.sqlite and places.sqlite and it won't allow me to delete them. This happened yesterday as well. Yesterday I could delete those files and everything was restored. But today I can't get it to work.

I'd like to organize bookmarks alphabetically, with folders listed first, at the top of the list, followed by bookmarks not saved to folders. How do I do this? An example: Folder A Folder B Folder C Acme Co inc Beta Corp, C corp ...etc

Meine Android App Firefox ist gestern eingefroren und ließ sich nur neu installieren, nun sind alle Firefox Lesezeichen und offenen Tabs weg. Wie bekomme ich diese wieder???

When you added a bookmark to a site in Firefox there used to be an option that when you hovered over the bookmark a dropdown would appear showing recent changes or additions to the site (see attached). It doesn't seem to be there any more - is there any means of restoring it? Thank you.

With the update to 115.10.0esr my bookmarks that were on the left hand side of the screen are gone. When I look at bookmarks there are a few, but I had multiple folders for different subjects, I do not find. I would like to have the procedure to return my bookmarks back to the left hand side of the screen with all of my bookmarks, bookmark folders, and other bookmarks like it was prior to the update. What happened to it? When it was deleted? Why? Is there a way to restore it?

As of an hour ago suddenly all of the usual suggestions and autofill with bookmarks in my address bar are wrong and out of order. I didn't close out of or update Firefox, I was just browsing online. I didn't change anything in my settings or have opened that up in days at the minimum. I cannot figure out how to either revert back or tell Firefox to not show me these choices so I can get my old ones.

I'll give an example: When I typed in "ma" it would show me mangadex.com, which I often go to. Now when I do it not only is 5th on the list it shows up and fills in "https://www.manticgames.com/", which I don't have that specific page bookmarked. I have "https://www.manticgames.com/games/kings-of-war/" bookmarked, but not that homepage. But now all of a sudden it is showing me the homepage of that site when I begin to type in "ma".

This is incredibly irritating and I have no idea why it's doing this at me out of nowhere. I don't want about anything showing up besides my bookmarks and specifically only the pages I bookmarked.

There used to be 4 root folders in my bookmarks toolbar on PC: bookmarks toolbar, bookmarks menu, other bookmarks and mobile bookmarks. Recently I noticed the "mobile bookmarks" folder is gone. That is where bookmarks saved in the default folder on mobile were synced. What happened?

I have a Mac desktop, a laptop with Windows 11, and an Android phone. I have about 120 bookmarks saved. On my Mac, they periodically backup fine and I can restore them if anything goes wonky. My phone and Windows laptop both show all the same bookmarks as the Mac. However, if I go to Manage Bookmarks to restore them on the Windows laptop, it shows many backups have occurred but only 5 bookmarks have been backed up. I have signed out of Firefox on all devices and signed back in. The Windows laptop did one correct backup showing the 120 or so bookmarks, and then every subsequent backup shows only 5 again. After a few weeks, the "correct" backup has been overwritten and is gone.

Anybody know what I can check to make the Windows laptop backup my bookmarks correctly?

To upload/import bookmarks into Firefox, the file extension of JSON is required. However from old crashed computer, I exported bookmarks in Excel. Please help. Thanks

My Windows 10 PC stopped working a few days & is disconnected & partially disassembled. I’m temporarily using an old Windows 7 PC which I brought up from the basement the following day. They both have Firefox on them.

I saved one bookmark on the Win7 PC today. It was there when I looked earlier. Now I went to use it again & it’s not there. But my Win10 bookmarks are there!!

How could that be?

Recently I noticed that whenever I try to save a bookmark (and I save a lot of bookmarks) there are duplicates of my folders. I don't know why, but somehow at some point all my bookmarks got copied into other folders - Bookmarks Menu, Bookmarks Toolbar, and maybe something else. What's frustrating is that one of the folders is the one I use for convenience to access sites I regularly use, while saving to the other puts it somewhere I can't easily get to (I think it's the copies from Bookmarks Menu), so I have to make sure I'm putting it in the right folder - which is hard to do when they have the exact same name. Something I've found that works is to just find out which folder is the one that is in my toolbar and save it to those which pushes the ones in the Bookmarks Menu out of the quick access list, but that's not always convenient given how many bookmarks are in some folders. Using the bookmarks dupes extension, you can see just how many duplicates there are. I've also attached what I see when I save a bookmark, so you can see the duplicate folders.

Hi, so on my office pc I work with firefox. I made an account specifically to store every bookmarks etc on that account so when my company updates something I'll always have my bookmarks. Unfortunately somehow since yesterday they all disapeared, and no I'm unable to recover them with the different methods that are foreseen on your website. please advise kr daniel

i am setting up a new laptop and trying to import all my current data from my old pc. Nothing is right. It imported alll the shortcuts on my toolbar from years ago. None of these are the current bookmarks from my old pc. ive tried syncing, importing again, nothing works. my bookmarks on my side bar are years old. I dont have ANY of these on my old pc as i deleted them years ago. what the heck is happening and how do i get my new pc browser to look exactly as my old pc looks. This is very frustrating. I have over 500 bookmarks on my sidebar. it looks like every bookmark i have EVER used. This is ridiculous.
