We use Firefox as our company default and it has been running fine. This morning our devices started updating to version 82.0 and now it will not re-open. We get the following in event viewer:

I typically have several tabs open in Firefox to quickly go from one website to the other. It seems like after a while or if I have more than a couple tabs already open, clicking on a link or choosing a bookmarked site to open a new tab does nothing. By nothing I mean the tab will open with the URL displayed, but FF is not actively trying to connect to the requested URL. The stop and refresh buttons are grayed out. My only course of action is to close that tab and try again, which typically just repeats the previous steps. It's not website dependent because once this begins happening, any attempt to open a website in a new tab hangs.

I do not remember if attempts to open new websites in existing tabs are successful as I cannot duplicate the problem right now. The only think I know that's successful it to close FF and restart it. When I close the program and reopen it, I notice quite frequently that I get a message that FF is already open so I tell it to close and reopen. Also, the last time this problem happened was a few minutes ago and I had four tabs open. I noticed that there were TEN separate processes running, all called "firefox.exe". Opening an error-free, single-tab instance of FF resulted in four separate processes running. Right now, I have two tabs open - the one in which I'm writing this question plus another, static page. This is resulting in SEVEN separate processes running!

I have not attempted to refresh FF yet as I currently don't want to hassle with all the customization I've done and most likely forgotten how to do.

I'm running Win7 Pro with 16GB. Thanks for the help!

The firefox browser has been closing itself recently, quite often aswell(2 times a day minimum). No crash reports, nothing like that afterwards either. when i reopen the browser it continues where i left off. i use the duckdugo extention if that may play a role in it.

Any ideas?

There is no indication of progress while a webpage is downloading. I'm looking for something like the rotating hour glass, or a rotating circle of dots. Only when the process is done do we get the page's icon on the tab. As it is, I never know if my request to open a webpage is working or if the computer has locked up. It must have changed with the latest update because, although I can't remember exactly how Firefox previously indicated loading in progress, I instantly noticed the LACK of it as soon as I booted up the newest version.

Any time I attempt to go to www.nfl.com (or any of the domain's pages), it will for a split second attemtp to go, but then quit trying as if it is blocked. I have disabled every single add-on in the browser, and it is still blocking the site. This is the only known site that is being blocked, and this site does NOT get blocked using Google Chrome.

What is likely to be causing this issue?

Nach dem Update auf FIREFOX 82.0 Firefox Release October 20, 2020 funktioniert nichts mehr. Deinstallation und Neuinstallation und Bereinigen, alles bringt keine Problemlösung. Einstellungen lassen sich nicht ändern und aktivieren. Absturzbericht lässt sich nicht öffnen. Die gleichen Probleme hatte ich vor einer Woche. Erst nach vielen Stunden Fehlerbeseitigung und unzählige Versuche mit Deinstallation und Neuinstallation und Bereinigen hatte ich für eine Woche ein zuverlässiges und fehlerfreies Arbeiten mit dem Browser Firefox. Jetzt nach dem neuen Update auf 82.0 wieder die gleichen Fehler. Der Browser FIREFOX ist unbrauchbar. Über EDGE von MICROSOFT und GOOGLE CHROME kann ich problemlos im Internet navigieren und arbeiten. Dort läuft alles fehlerfrei mit der 64-Bit-Version.

Vor einer Woche hatte ich versucht, MOZILLA bzw. die Community über diese Fehler zu kontaktieren. Ich habe keine Antwort erhalten.

Ich hoffe, dass diese erneute Fehlermeldung jetzt dazu führt, dass ich eine Antwort erhalte, wie dieses Problem gelöst werden kann.

After updating to FIREFOX 82.0 Firefox Release October 20, 2020 nothing works anymore. Uninstalling and reinstalling and cleaning up, nothing brings a solution to the problem. Settings cannot be changed or activated. Crash report cannot be opened. I had the same problems a week ago. Only after many hours of troubleshooting and countless attempts with deinstallation and reinstallation and cleaning did I have reliable and error-free work with the Firefox browser for a week. Now after the new update to 82.0 the same errors again. The FIREFOX browser is unusable. With EDGE from MICROSOFT and GOOGLE CHROME I can easily navigate and work in the Internet. Everything there runs flawlessly with the 64-bit version.

A week ago I tried to contact MOZILLA or the community about these errors. I did not get an answer.

I hope that this repeated error message now leads to an answer on how to solve this problem.

Just received a supposed Firefox Update Marked "Important Firefox update available. Click "Install" to continue" Yet when I click the Install I get a Warning " You are attempting to install an add-on from 'performoverlyoriginalapplication.icu. Make sure you trust this site before continuing" Is this a legitimate Firefox update, and IF IT IS - why do I get that warning from Firefox. I do NOT know, so therefore can NOT "trust" performoverlyoriginalapplication.icu. Can someone who knows this subject better PLEASE advise whethere this is a legitimate update for Firefox and can they be trusted. Also IF that is the caes why does Firefox send me a "warning"???? Right, so, this is genuinely a weird one - Wherever the bottom of my scrollbar is, whenever I scroll, it will have a tearing effect on the text above and below it- as if its trying to decide "Am I up here? or down here?" I have no way of capturing this via screen shot, I've disabled Hardware acceleration for a previous issue (Firefox would flicker on certain pages, and outright crash). I can't find an issue with my graphics drivers, as everything else runs and works as standard as normal. It's only firefox that has this issue, as Edge and Chrome work perfectly fine.
