Firefox crashes when downloading a file and choosing "open with"

So every time I try to download a file and choose "open with" (instead of "save file"), the file opens and then Firefox crashes. It does this on any website, any file type. If I choose "Save File" instead, it downloads the file and there are no problems (it just adds the extra step of navigating to the folder where the file was downloaded to open it). I have completely uninstalled Firefox, deleted every trace of it from my PC (appdata, Program Files, registry, etc), and reinstalled. No change, still crashes every time I choose "Open with". This has been going on for at least a few months I think.

Since Firefox 55 there is an issue with syncing using Mozilla Sync.

It still persists and leads to a frozen Firefox "not responding" in Windows.

Also with 55.0.3 - no matter if x86 or x64, this problems exists. The browser gets stuck within the sync process and has to be shut down using task manager. If you are lucky the next try of syncing will work correctly and then FF works fine.

This has never been an issue with 54.0.1 - I cross checked by reinstalling and testing FF 54.

This is approved in my environment with 3 different machines and 4 different Windows installations.

It even happens with no add-ons at all and checking the date of "last sync" you can easily see, that syncing didn't complete and this stalls Firefox and renders it useless.

If the syncing works, FF 55 also works as normal. Unfortunately, in this event NO error reports are generated. On none of the machines. Which means I cannot create a crash log of the problem.

I am not syncing everything, only history, password and bookmarks. No open tabs, add-ons or settings.

Is there a fix for this problem? Thanks in advance.

This problem just happen lately, starting around one week ago I think. When I try to paste some URL from google sheet or sometimes I click some link to open in new tab, the webpage will load a blank white page, and the page tab will show the "http://www.example.com" (with quotation mark) instead of the page title. And I need to refresh once again, sometimes two.. for the page to load correctly

Any suggestion to fix this?

Shift+Delete no longer works to remove these erroneous results. I've never heard of, used, visited, or wanted to visit "http://nycsubway.org/" or anything related to it, but now firefox's "awesome" bar sends me there instead of Netflix, which I use daily. I've turned off all the random suggestions for the address bar but these random, wrong, ads keep popping up. If I've never used it, and I'm not searching for it, putting it there must mean "http://nycsubway.org/" has paid you to be an annoyance in or lives. Or why else would you do this?!

When I delete the Profile, it creates a new one and starts writing them again. 38,000 files in the last week, totaling 330 MB.

I just updated to Firefox 62 and my back and forward buttons have moved to the right side of the navigation bar and my reload button is gone entirely.Also I opened my task manager and Firefox is using a lot of my CPU.My CPU usage is usually around 10% , or something like that...pretty low.Now it's using around 70%...Firefox itself using over 60% when usually it's around 1%-3%.Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

The popup claims to be a Mozilla extension, but there is no such thing in the list of Add Ons. It seems to be a redirect which opens the requested webpage and the popup at the same time. It goes away when I click the X. But every time I change pages, I have to shoo the popup way like a fly.

The only identification within the popup is " r.svrtrack.com ". It requests permission for a "monetization" feature. Avast antivirus and MalwareBytes found nothing wrong.

I tried to upload a screenshot, but the wheel just keeps spinning.

Hello, Been on my computer doing my normal web channeling and all of a sudden I get this guy screaming his off with a bunch of authentic looking pages from Microsoft saying that they had block my system and I need to call this number. I knew it was a scam and was told sometime back to shut your system down and come back later on. I did exactly that and I can get Edge and Chrome but when I hit on the icon for Firefox ,desktop,nothing happens.

I thought uninstall Firefox and reinstall but it gives me a message to close Firefox first. Cannot even do that.

PS. I'm not even sure how I got to this. If any of you have a solution this will help: x :0)

I am not a fan of Safari but I do not like Firefox when it doesn't work and this is happening more and more. Also I am having trouble uploading a screenshot here, what's up with that? My internet connection is fine.
