Hi, I have 30 Firefox processes running and they are taking up ~2700 MB (84%) memory. I have 8GB installed memory. I'm running Win 11. What causes processes to run and how do I know which ones I can end?

Even with just 1 tab open, Firefox is killing my laptop battery.

Win 11 PC laptop.

In background, it is using 40% to 50% of the laptop battery. I need much better performance from it. I have already turned off any settings I can find regarding Firefox's background functions. When I quit Firefox I want it completely off.

How can I do that?

Having heard the news that Firefox's latest CEO wants to turn it into yet another AI-slop browser, I came to this forum to give feedback as an avid Firefox user over the last 4-5 years. I can see I'm not alone either; there are tons of other users who seem to feel the same way I do.

This is a very, VERY bad decision. So far, every "AI update" that has already hit Firefox has done nothing but make the browser worse and more inefficient. A few months ago, Mozilla was getting hit by complaints from desktop users about memory usage skyrocketing due to the implementation of an AI chatbot into Firefox. Now they've added AI search engines among other things. And surprise, surprise--no one seems to actually want to use these features. Why should we, if all it does is make computers run slower, overheat, and doesn't actually answer any useful questions or contribute anything meaningful?

I'm baffled at Mr. Enzor-DeMeo saying he wants to go all-in on making Firefox an "AI browser" with his whole chest in the SAME week that Microsoft has had to lower their growth targets for AI-related sales, some of them up to 50%, because NO ONE seems to actually be buying AI products. You know, on account of (you guessed it) not finding them very useful.

Other people have already mentioned the myriad of other problems with AI too, so I won't touch on those too much, other than to agree that AI is a plagiarism machine that's doing serious environmental damage. What I WILL say is that I personally have been using Firefox all this time specifically because it's avoided the AI craze as much as other browsers, or at the very least, avoided making it "opt-out" instead of "opt-in" to the same degree. But if this changes in the near future and Firefox does become yet another inefficient AI slopfest of a browser, I may seriously rethink my loyalty to Firefox and switch back to Chrome instead. After all, there would be functionally no difference between the two browsers anyway!

Please rethink this decision and consider actually listening to user feedback going forward. If Mozilla actually wants to retain their userbase, I'm sure I'm not the only person thinking about dropping Firefox for Chrome in the future.

Hi, I’ve been experiencing slow startup times in Firefox, especially when I have my Time calculator web app open. The browser takes longer to load and sometimes becomes unresponsive.

I’ve tried disabling extensions and changing my home page, but the issue persists. Are there any specific settings or troubleshooting steps in Firefox that can help improve performance when using online calculators like this?

I’ve recently noticed that after a Firefox update, the browser has become very slow and unresponsive whenever I open multiple tabs, around 5–10. Before this update, I could open many tabs without any noticeable lag.

Now, new tabs take a long time to load, scrolling within open tabs feels choppy, and sometimes Firefox freezes for a few seconds before responding again.

I’ve already tried restarting Firefox, disabling extensions one by one, and clearing the cache, but none of these steps have improved the performance. I’m using Windows 10 and the latest version of Firefox.

Could anyone suggest what settings or troubleshooting steps I can try to fix this slowdown?

Firefox has been using more RAM and CPU on my system recently, especially with only a few tabs open. Is this expected behavior, or are there specific settings, extensions, or configurations I should check to improve performance?

Hi. Not sure how to tag this. I've turned off as many ai features in Firefox as I am able. I'm practically begging for this company not to add more. It slows the browser, it wastes energy, and to be honest? I don't want summaries of things I'm looking up, I don't want to be recommended apps or features, or chat to a bot, or have my sentences finished for me/help with writing beyond spell check. Google had a decent spelling and grammar checker and then they added gen ai garbage and now it sucks! PLEASE stop adding ai features to Firefox. It makes browsing impossible.

The minimize, maximize, close line at the top of the screen is missing when Firefox opens. If I click the Firefox icon in the task manager to minimize it and click it again to maximize it, then the missing line at the top appears. This has been an ongoing glitch for a week or more. Perhaps you can fix this minor problem?

This is happening more frequently. sometimes clicking links works but the cursor will not respond if i hover over the new tab button. To continue I have to select a new firefox window, The unresponsive window remains in error even when a new working window is active.

I have removed many gb of apps to try and address this issue today but can't stop Firefox from using an insane amount of memory. What's up? I've been using Firefox for years and have never had this issue until today. I'd like to keep using your browser but I can't if my computer keeps shutting down.

For those of us that do want to use AI for work performance enhancement purposes, I have a question and also a comment for the Development Team. Here is the scenario real quick. I use Mozilla Firefox as my trusted browser today and that means that I open other AI systems such as ChatGPT, Grok, Gemini, etc. within this browser and could at times be running multiple browser sessions at the same time. My question is, will the Mozilla new AI Features attempt to try and compete with my other chat sessions for data capture, response and participation if I keep portions or the whole system enabled? The last thing I need is Mozilla AI as the selected browser now interfering with my other work flow processes in anyway including just listening along which would significantly increase the amount of resources used to run the Mozilla AI in parallel with other AI systems on my computer. I have heavy work loads at times and am already experiencing browser delays in processing data (even when setting up separate project chats for specific tasks) because of too many added features within all of the AI systems like historical chat session quick links on the right side of the screen. That's a ton of data that ends up getting stored/cached, referenced and processed with each command executed. I don't mind using Mozilla AI within the browser for general personal surfing and Q&A purposes but I can see this potentially becoming a big issue for us creators working with large image data processing tasks in other AI systems via the Mozilla browser. I will unfortunately be turning all of these Mozilla AI features off to start because I am not sure there really is a clear separation path for resource allocations within the browser now keeping my experience fast and efficient. Most likely this will force me into using a different browser product for personal vs business until things are much clearer. Hoping to learn a little bit here and see that things like this are being taken into consideration, even if it is a product roadmap enhancement for release sometime in the near future. When I launch Firefox, it uses well under 1GB in memory, but then it starts to increase that amount quickly in just a few minutes and gets up to 50+GB, causing error messages to pop up repeatedly until it uses all resources and locks up my computer. I have updated my MAC OS and the Firefox app, uninstalled the Firefox App and still have the same problem.

Sporadically over the past year, a virus warning, purportedly from Apple, has locked my FireFox screen. I must Force Quit to unlock FoxFire. See images. Is this a scam?
