I run normal firefox on linux. Fully up-to-date. Every time I quit the app, it reverts to a version of my profile from a month ago, and loads all the tabs I had open then, and then receives all the tabs that I sent to the device in the interim (~1 month). As I speak, it just caught the 60 or 70 tabs in this window.

I tried changing the name of my profile folder to randomstring.defaultOLD and changed one of the backups to randomstring.default. This didn't change the behavior. I'm still stuck in the loop. I saved my tabs with onetab, because firefox isn't remembering my session anymore. I thought it was something to do with updates, like it only loses its mind upon updates, but that's not true. It thinks it's updating firefox EVERY TIME, because the one time it's loading to 1 month ago it was updating, but I'm 100% sure there are no updates to firefox in my linux. It's just hallucinating.

The articles on restoring from backup are outdated. They say to use an html file. There is no html file. It's just folders for profiles, not html files. HELP!

I made a change somewhere that caused a total loss of history/open tabs even in my tab manager extension. I can't remember exactly what it was I changed but nothing I have searched here has been helpful in recovering from this. I did not want to bring my profile from home as I am using Firefox here in a work environment. Can someone point me to or explain a step by step method to be able to do this? Nothing I found in searching here has been positive.

Hi! I reached out on Friday and was sent a code that expired in 5 minutes, missed the deadline and had to leave the library. I updated Firefox to 155 and can't find my bookmarks. Also found that a Microsoft update included Goggle Chrome that I uninstalled. Please advise on getting my bookmarks back thank you. I only have 30 minutes left on line. Help! All of my bookmarks, browsing history, and profile prior to Sept 4, 2026 have been erased. Firefox instructions for restoring these prior bookmarks do not work. When I access "manage bookmarks" then the "Library", then "import & backup & restore", there is nothing listed prior to Sept 4, 2026. So there is no file to choose. Also my prior profile has been erased. My profile is completely blank altho I did NOT create a new profile nor did I access my profile in any way!!!

Also the instructions for "restore bookmarks from backup" do not work either. I desperately need that browsing history and those bookmarks. I am doing research for an art history project & those bookmarks for the last two years were stored there & seemed securely in place for the last three years. I need those bookmarks & the browsing history which included sites I used but did not necessarily cite in my research.

My bookmarks included the sole documentation I had of my research for this project for the last two years!!! When Firefox said it would continue to support Windows 10, I had no reason to believe my entire browsing history and/or my previously secure bookmarks would be erased. I accidentally deleted my old Firefox beta And I need to recover my settings bookmarks and data etc by logging in how do I do that immediately? I'm trying to recover my old Firefox beta account how can I do that immediately

After problems with loading the current Firefox session, I seem to have retrieved my bookmarks (I cannot be certain all of them are there), except the Bookmarks toolbar and Other bookmarks folders are empty. I have a recent backup, but when I try to import the json file, it wipes out all bookmarks - I have to reboot to see them again. If I had them in html format I might try to manually add the missing bookmarks. Even better, maybe there is a way to merge the current and backed-up bookmarks. But I don't want to make things even worse. Any advice that certainly will work? Thank you for your help. Incidentally, sometimes the bookmarks won't load, and I have to reboot, sometimes several times, to see them again. How might I avoid this?
