I searched extensively for this and could only find answers regarding bookmarks, not add-on icons. Of course I could still be missing it...

I am upgrading from Firefox Developer 86 to 101.

The spacing between add-on icons has been increased in Firefox 101, making the URL bar shorter:

https://user-media-prod-cdn.itsre-sumo.mozilla.net/uploads/images/2022-05-26-17-03-36-e06f37.png

Does anyone know of a userChrome.css script that I can use to decrease the add-on icon spacing in Firefox 101, to make it more like Firefox 86?

I noticed in my wife's identity that "share" from the top file menu does NOT bring up the options for (Mac 11.6.5) to send an email or message, etc. I know it works from my identity w. same computer/settings. It used to work all the time on her identity, (and does so w.o issue using her Safari), but I don't recall an update.

   It also is obnoxious as all the 'share' brings up is the stock Mac "extensions' options, of which mail, messages are grey scaled out (as is iCloud), with no padlock or way to make them clickable/check or uncheck! I have run safe mode, disabled extensions from the top bar, but have no idea how to make the "share" share!!! It does work if we just highlight the page address and post it into macmail (14.0). These permission things have no clear way to reset them for Firefox...i.e my calling up Mac support would probably be useless.

I regularly switch between two Firefox settings:

Search for text when you start typing: checked Search for text when you start typing: unchecked

I use a third-party scripting tool (Macro Express Pro) to automate the process so that a single hotkey toggles between the two settings. My macro looks something like this:

Text Type (Simulate Keystrokes): <F10> // Move focus to the Menu bar Delay: 800 milliseconds Text Type (Simulate Keystrokes): t // Tools Delay: 200 milliseconds Text Type (Simulate Keystrokes): s // Settings

Delay: 1000 milliseconds

Text Type (Simulate Keystrokes): <SHIFT><ALT>x // Toggle the search setting Delay: 50 milliseconds

Text Type (Simulate Keystrokes): <CONTROL><F4> // Close the setting pane

My macro is a bit unreliable. It works about 80% of the time. I could improve reliability a little by using longer delays, but my preference would be to do this in a more programmatic way, or at minimum, in a more direct way with fewer steps.

Is there a way to toggle this setting, for example, via about:config or by typing something in the address bar? The Firefox hotkey in the Settings pane is SHIFT + ALT + x. Is there a way to force this hotkey to be recognized in a regular Firefox window?

I have a little javascript was given to me that increases the volume when playing Youtube vids that are too quiet. here it is: javascript:(function(){var videoElement = document.querySelector("video");var audioCtx = new AudioContext();var source = audioCtx.createMediaElementSource(videoElement);var gainNode = audioCtx.createGain();gainNode.gain.value = 3; /* triple the volume */ source.connect(gainNode);gainNode.connect(audioCtx.destination);})();

I don't know how it works. Whether it talks to firefox or it talks to win10 or it talks to Youtube. I don't know.

But sometimes it doesn't work. then I have to reboot.

Seeing it is in Firefox I just thought firefox guys might know something about why it doesn't work and perhaps some way to kick it into action?

Hi,

If I launch this, all's fine:

firefox.exe http://myurl

I can view the site at http://myurl.

However, I want to launch firefox with a specific profile, so I tried this:

firefox.exe -profile "C:\firefox\profile" http://myurl

I know that the profile's directory is loaded and written to because I created that dir with ONLY chrome/userchrome.css, and after launching firefox I can see a whole bunch of new files in there (eg. json files, sqlite files, etc.)

I can also see that it is also properly applying the settings in userchrome.css after I enabled toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets.

However, http://myurl is not being opened at all. The culprit seems to be my userchrome.css which contains:

@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */

  1. openLocation, #urlbar-container, #CustomizeToolbarWindow, #toolbar-context-menu, #menubar-items {
display:none!important;

}

My intention is to open a URL and disable all other bells and whistles in the browser except the window and forward/back buttons (ie. I do not want kiosk mode).

How can I do that?

[EDIT]

It seems that #urlbar-container is the problem. If I set it to display:none!important, firefox will not open the URL I provide on the command line. Why? So, how can I tell firefox to open a URL but not allow the user to navigate elsewhere by typing it in the "urlbar"?

[EDIT 2]

This seems to do the trick:

@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */

  1. openLocation, #CustomizeToolbarWindow, #toolbar-context-menu,
  2. search-container, #personal-bookmarks, #menubar-items {
display:none!important;

}

  1. urlbar-container {
visibility:hidden;

}

However, I'd like to know if there are caveats.

BTW if Mozilla's support for userchrome.css will ever be dropped in the future what is a better way of doing the above? I certainly can't use kiosk mode and -app (app mode) is unavailable and will probably never will be.

I've tried doing a full reset as suggested [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../978254|here.] I've also disabled all of my add-ons. Control + Shift + I is working as a shortcut to bring up DevTools. Control + Shift + M just won't bring up the responsive design mode.

Is there some troubleshooting I could do in the about:config?

I am running the most recent version of Firefox on Windows 11.

I'd like to use Vimium on every page. Some Firefox pages disable add-ons, like the settings page, when viewing pdfs, home page, this page etc..

How do I keep Vimium enabled always?

On these pages, clicking the Vimium icon reads: > Vimium is not running on this page.

> Your browser does not run web extensions like Vimium on certain pages, > usually for security reasons.

> Unless your browser's developers change their policy, then unfortunately > it is not possible to make Vimium (or any other web extension, for that > matter) work on this page.

Note, I originally had this thread but it got archived. What I said works, no longer works, probably after an update: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1339503

Hello,

I use my laptop's touchpad for zooming but it acts just like Ctrl + "+" or Ctrl + "-" and changes the whole webpage. I want to zoom in smoothly so that only that part of the screen gets enlarged (like zooming an image on touchscreen). I looked on the internet and found that it can be done by turning "apz.allow_zooming" to true from about:config but it was already set to true. I use the latest Firefox version on Ubuntu 20.04 (tried 22.04 also and wayland too). Can you please help how I can enable pinch to zoom in firefox?

I'm here thanks to a suggestion from @FirefoxHelp on Twitter.

I posted about it on Twitter and on Reddit. The screenshot can be found here or here.

I am a user of Firefox Developer Edition, I think it was at version 102. I am running Windows 10, version 21H2. So here's what happened: I had Rayrsn's "Dark Space Full Transparent" theme installed; its code is also available on GitHub and it has been forked from another theme called "Dark Space" by Nicothin. It is a nearly all-black theme, sporting an animated dark UI (including a black/dark Find bar that popped when pressing Ctrl+F); it had been working perfectly fine for many months now.

Then, I got a notification saying Firefox now had a new feature called Firefox Colors, which allows custmomization of the UI colors.

I hopped on tried and played around changing a few colors here and there. Then, dissatisfied with the results, I tried undoing a few of the changes I've made and it didn't work out well. So, I clicked this cursed button: "Revert All" (the leftmost button on top).

After that, my theme glitched and got corrupted, and now the Find bar always appears in a milky-white color, instead of the theme's default black color. I am unable to undo or revert this one change, either from Colors or from anywhere else.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the theme. It doesn't work. I tried uninstalling the Firefox Color addon. Zero results. I tried restoring Firefox. It didn't work either. I tried fully uninstalling Firefox. Nope. I tried disabling Firefox Sync. It took me a while to succeed in it, but it didn't solve my problem. Finally, I tried uninstalling Developer Edition and using other editions of Firefox instead. The issue persists.

I suspect there must some setting buried down deep somewhere in my OS must be affecting this one theme. What should I do? What files or settings do I need to dive into and change?

I know it may sound like a very trivial problem, but for me, it has become so annoying and aggravating that I don't even feel like using Firefox anymore.

PLEASE HELP ME. Thank you.
