I looked at a previous thread on this - back in 2014, so I hope someone has an answer now. After downloading Firefox (for privacy reasons) all my existing .pdf files became Firefox .html files. Including .pdfs that I myself created by scanning documents. I have now been into the firefox preferences to ensure (I hope) that .pdfs are opened using Acrobat in future. But how do I get my existing files turned back? At the moment I feel very much like Joe (last thread in 2014) - Firefox should warn of this before downloading. One does not expect a Browser to change existing file types.

After migration my user directory to a different partition, I've lost all the items in my history menu and my places.sqlite file is no longer updating. However I can see in my address bar that all my regular suggestions and recommendations are still there, still auto-completing as they did before and when I visit a site, its visit count is properly bloated. I'm not sure if this is due to account sync but I've disconnected it now. How can I reconcile my files and repopulate my history menu so I can properly search it?

I was googling fine, went to eat, and when I came back this security alert appeared when tried to google something, and it also appears if I try to enter Youtube, like if Google sites now are a security risk for Firefox?

Edge opens them, Chrome opens them, WTF?? I just went to eat, didn't update nothing, didn't add a cookie, didn't restart the computer, I didn't even close the browser, I JUST WENT TO EAT. This is for those that say "restart", "clean your cookies", "update Firefox", I've already tried the obvious, what the hell happened? Did Firefox get in a fight with Google or what?

Do developers read these topics or we're just "helping each other"? Well, thanks for any info on the matter...

For some reason today all of the sudden I can no longer see YouTube videos whether they are on the YouTube site, or embedded on another site. I checked another browser, and there is not issue there (Microsoft Edge). I then tried to sign up for YouTube, but the process broke down because the confirmation code was never sent to my e-mail. I also turned the AdBlock off, but that didn't help either. I checked with my ISP and there are no issues on their end. Everything else I use is not affected by this issue. So what gives?

Dear All I switched over to latest version Firefox, installed it on other, parallel drive (D). However, older version FF -still on (C)- updated itself. (Left it there because I wanted access to some data while changing - bad idea, obviously!) Now there's a (new) version on either drives. Can I remove (C) version? C-disk is rather small, therefore idea came of swapping it to (D) And HOW do I remove it from (C)? Many thanks for any idea All (MY real name)

At mozillas suggestion I downloaded the new thing from firefox to speed up . The down load totally erased all my passwords. I posted this question before. Now I'm asking again. Please help I am dead in the water.

I 'refreshed' firefox as suggested. The guidance suggested that all my logins and passwords would be preserved but when I check the Logins and Passwords all have been cleared. I am now faced with the arduous task of resetting many many login credential. Poor advice from Mozilla.

I use canvas blocker so I need privacy.resist.fingerprinting to be set to false. I have repeatedly set it to false in about:config and by editing prefs.json and every time I restart firefox it resets to true. I have done a clean install of firefox, turned off and deleted every add on, and tried using a new profile but it has not cleared the issue.

Does anyone know of a work around to enable clipboard API functionality over a local intranet without a public domain name?

• I use a local server application with a http interface on my home Intranet, accessed via FireFox (a web browser). I do not want the program to be accessed from the internet, and don't have and don't think I want a public domain for my local Intranet server. In the past I have been accessing it from Firefox by book marking the IP address and port.
• The program has recently changed from using Document.execCommand() method to the modern asynchronous Clipboard API.
• The clipboard API in Firefox defaults to requiring the host is accessed via https (appropriate for public facing internet access) or the host server is run on the same machine as the web browser (127.0.0.1 or localhost).
• From a security perspective I'm not convinced I need encryption between computer in my home networks (if that traffic is being intercepted to spy on or modify my clipboard, then my private network has already been severely compromised).

As a result of the clipboard API conventions, the program's clipboard functionality no longer works for me. I have tried

• looking for a Firefox exception settings, to enable clipboard API functionally over http (vs https) for specific local IP, but could not find how to do that in FireFox
• I have tried installing Caddy but without a domain name I couldn't get it to reverse-proxy to https

Am I missing an easy solution or do local servers need public addresses now.

the situation: we publish an internal wiki website in our intranet. the delivering server provides a certificate issued by our own microsoft active directory pki (root-intermediate-servercert). firefox is configured by gpos in order to use windows cert store, where root and intermediate are installed. but nevertheless firefox drops an error message ssl_bad_cert_domain and i do not see why. in chrome or chromium based edge everything is fine. no ssl warnings. as you can see in the attached screenshot the cert includes various san fields for different host names, which includes two ip addresses (anonymized).

any advice what do to is mostly appreciated.

Whenever I use Alt 7, it changes the site to Bing. It doesn't open a new tab to do this. This does not happen in Chrome, just Firefox. How do I stop this from happening?

I want a link to open in a new tab after I left-click. So I have the "Open links in tabs instead of new windows" setting checked. But it doesn't work, when I click a link it opens in that tab. So I unchecked the box, and still, the link opens in that tab. It doesn't open in a new tab or window.

Isn't there a way to have a link open in a new tab? Or the only way to do it would be left click and go to the "open link in new tab" part of the pop up window?

Is there a way to disable the little notification that pops up showing what url is being loaded or that pops up when you mouse over a link in the bottom left of the browser?

I'm using an OLED and am trying to disable as many re-current static objects as possible. In my 25 years of web browsing I've never found this to be a useful feature so I'd rather it be disabled.

I can't seem to find any settings pertaining to it and all the info I can find on disabling is quite old and doesn't seem to be accurate anymore.

Any tips would be very appreciated.

A link for "Other Bookmarks" has appeared in the Toolbar after the dropdown icon for the 'extra' items that won't fit across the screen. Also, a space has appeared between the rightmost bookmark and the dropdown. I had adjusted display resolution for easier viewing, but putting it back to Default makes no diff - except for size, obviously. Haven't found anything in Prefs to add/remove this. I installed Firefox Relay add-on. When I Compose a new memo on my Protonmail account the Firefox Relay symbol does not appear in the From address and therefore I cannot select an Alias. Any suggestion?

Since yesterday the webbrowser formal Firefox - changed to Microsoft Bing. Even after I changed settings of the standard webbrowser to Mozilla Firefox always Bing starts. How can I change it?

I am getting a message on a yellow banner on various websites, most recently the New York Times, that reads:

A webpage is slowing down your browser. What would you like to do? Stop it, Wait.

An image is attached. If I select Stop It it sometimes goes away and sometimes comes back. It has recurred over several logins to the Times and it is very annoying as it impedes the fast loading of the webpage content and slows any activity. I would like to know how to permanently get rid of it.

Out of curiousity when right clicking on my list of bookmarks I clicked the option 'add a new separator'. Now that I can see what the option does I want to remove the separator, but can't see how to do it. Can anyone help, please?
