There is "show in folder" menu for file in downloads. And it will launch my file manager at the parent folder for the selected download file.

There are so many files in my downloads folder, so i would like the specific file to be autoselected. My file manager support this if i pass the filename as parameter in the commandline.

However, seems that firefox only pass the parent folder path to my file manager in the "show in folder". However can i customize firefox so that it will pass the full file name to my file manager when i click "show in folder", and my file manager will open the parent folder with the specific file autoselected.

Im using Playwright with JS and when Im running ny test on FireFox i get a PopUp message to select the screen i want to screencast, even when im choosing screen and pressing "Share" its happened in the next test and not recording my tests. its happened only in FF. How im removed this PopUP ?Thanks. Using also Linux Ubuntu.

I like Firefox to ask me what to do each time with PDF documents, so I've set the action for PDF to "Always Ask". However, I've noticed that when I load a page with a PDF document embedded inline, and I select "Open with Firefox" on the dialog box, the document always opens in a new tab.

In other words: there are certain PDF documents that get displayed inline when the action for PDF is "Open in Firefox"; but those same documents get opened in new tabs when set to "Always Ask".

Is possible for Firefox to display PDFs inline while asking me what to do each time?

I used to be able to show speed dial bookmarks on my home page, as many rows as I had spd dial bkmks, like 30 or so. Now I cant even get speed dial to show anywhere anyway. I really want it on my home page, so when I launch FF or open a new tab, it auto shows all my speed dial bkmks. Please restore this functionality. We should not need some special extension to do this. It should be an option off the Settings tab

If I try to goto a new tab the new tab just blinks and never connects. Say I am in ebay and I see something and click on it. A new tab is made but it just clicks and nothing else.

I want my websites content to be remove in reader mode in firefox how i can acheive this.

I am a developer and i am using one div in which i have content and images in that i dont want to fetch them in reader mode.

Previously I've been able to select search suggestions using the keyboard when typing into a search bar. As of a few days ago this no longer works on some sites like YouTube, but does work on others like Google. The issue is not to do with num lock or scroll lock, and my browser is up to date (124.0.1 Ubuntu Snap version).

Lately, when I try to download different files like .docx, .pptx, etc., Firefox always downloads files with a .pdf extension. I tried it in a different browser, and the problem does not occur there. Of course, the files are the same in binary terms, so when I change the extension, everything is fine, but it is annoying. What is wrong?

I'm looking for a simple extension. A one-click extension that would enable me to delete cookies at any time during a firefox browser session. I would like to exclude some cookies from deletion, so I'd like a whitelist option.

Has anyone come across an extension like this?

I am trying to install Adobe Flash player in Firefox 84.0 (the last version support Flash player) when running in a docker container (Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS). I had tried to run Firefox in my real machine (Linux 6.1.0-17-amd64 Debian 12) and it worked well. I just copy the file "libflashplayer.so" to the path "~/.mozilla/plugins". But when Firefox is running in a container, I do the same but it can't found Flash player plugin. No matter where I place the libflashplayer.so, like "~/.mozilla/plugins" or "/usr/lib/firefox/firefox", it don't work, I can't find Flash player in "about:plugins" or "about:addons". I start Firefox from a terminal and there is no error log. I have no idea why it can detect flash player plugin while running in a real system but don't work when running in a container. Thanks.

On new window (`Ctrl-N`) I want the focus to be on the url bar, not the homepage. I believe this is the default behavior if no homepage is set, but I want to set this behavior independent of the homepage setting.

Is there a setting for this?

since some Firefox versions the setting "browser.fixup.alternate.suffix" no longer works. I found that all "browser.fixup.alternate" entries do not work anymore. After searching the web I found an answer that the fixup.alternate options don't work when the protocol is https. So, because today nearly all Websites use https, this options are completely without function. In my case I want to add the default TLD ".de" if I do not enter the TLD. Is there any place (except source code, of course) to configure this behavior for https, too?

When you switch the language in a text field, the focus on that text field is lost and the focus goes to another browser tab. This only happens if at this time a video is playing in mozilla in picture in picture mode with the Always on top option enabled. How to fix it? (Ubuntu 22.04)

Hello, I'm using a document management system (SeedDMS for those who know) through Firefox 122.0.1 (64-bit, canonical 1.0, downloaded from packages.ubuntu.com for focal, running on Debian Bookworm, kernel 6.1.0-17-amd64/Debian 6.1.69-1 x86_64, X.Org X Server 1.21.1.7, KDE Plasma 5.27.5, KDE Framework 5.103.0, QT 5.15.8, i7-5820K, GeForce GTX 1070).

Within this document management system pdf.js (v4.0.379) is being used to preview/view PDF Documents. After starting Firefox the PDF view inside the DMS works fine until I suspend (to memory) and resume my machine. Regular HTML-content looks fine but the resumed DMS session shows only blank (all white) Pages inside the PDF view. Changing to a different PDF file doesn't help. The number and size of these pages is presented correctly. I can even select and copy (invisible) text from these blank PDF pages. The problem applies to all PDFs, whether they're single or multi paged, have images inside them (like with PDFs from a scanner) or not, etc. Reloading the page/closing reopening the affected browser window doesn't help, i.e. the problem persists.

I recently found out, that this also applies to PDF files directly opened inside Firefox (which also seems to use pdf.js as a PDF viewer), that is, this is not related to a specific site like my DMS.

The problem always persists until I kill Firefox and start it over.

Pdf.js seems to use a canvas inside a div (see screenshots attached) to draw the visual PDF content and another div to make the text layer selectable/searchable etc. I don't know what's happening to canvases on a system suspend/resume cycle in Firefox on Linux, but I suspect that's where the problem originates from.

This problem already affected older versions of Firefox and pdf.js.

Please let me know, if you need further information from my side to investigate that issue.

I'm using a Hotspot provided by Cisco in a library and when first connecting to the Wireless network, Firefox prompts me to login to network in order to have Internet access (expected and works fine). However, once the time session expires Firefox will sometimes prompt again to login. When this fails and internet access is abruptly ended, I've to reconnect to the Wireless network and have Firefox prompt to login.

This is a security vulnerability as someone could advertise the BSSID of the router and have victims connect to their Hotspot instead of the true one.

I have enabled privacy.resistFingerprinting in Firefox. I have also set my default zoom level to 133%

When I open a website (e.g. https://github.com/), it is zoomed to 133% as expected. If I then navigate to a page on that website (e.g. https://github.com/pricing) using the menu at the top of the page, then the new page is still zoomed to 133%. So far, so good.

However, on the new page (https://github.com/pricing) if I increase the zoom over 133%, then navigate back to the original page (https://github.com/) using the menu at the top of the page, then my zoom level is reset to 100%.

Is this expected behaviour? I would have thought that the zoom level would be reset to 133%, not 100%.

I'm developing web app. I created and set up ssl auth for localhost with self signed cert.

When I hit my endpoint with firefox I see:

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to localhost:8081. SSL peer cannot verify your certificate.

Error code: SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_ALERT

   The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
   Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

How to disable security in FF so I can test my endpoint?

I'm using the current Firefox-ESR for Linux x86_64. Under Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and Site Data > Manage Exceptions, I blocked http:174.138.51.92 and https:174.138.51.92 several weeks ago. But Manage Data shows 10 cookies last used 45 minutes ago, and Remove Selection for these cookies fails (incidentally retaining the "last used" value), even when repeated multiple times as fast as I can mouse the select, then Remove Selection, then Save Changes then Manage Data .

How can I delete these cookies and site data? And why does it fail for this site and this site only? And how can I block them permanently, short of black-holing that site in /etc/hosts?
