With the latest update a lot of ease-of-use has gone away. Include is the fact that tabs that are playing sound only show an icon when I hover the mouse over them. I can not seem to about:config to get the sound icon to remain, despite changing the setting. This means if multiple tabs are playing I have to search all the tabs individually. It also means I cannot quickly switch to the desired tabs muting and unmuting as I prefer.

While this is a specific problem which I hope you can solve readily, it is a part of a pattern I have seen over some of the more recent updates, where useful features are removed in favor of aesthetics. It was this very mistake that lead me to leave internet explorer for firefox. Leave us the ability to turn on and off what we like, instead of forcing us to accept whatever you think is the trend.

There are no more borders around the tabs except the active one. It is hard to click click fast to change to another tab - special with pinned tabs with some icons blured with the theme I love. Also the theme-icons got deactivated and there is now the lower bar empty without the tabs. They went up into a new bar higher added. How can I fix that with boardred tabs located downwards and the intuitiv easier clickable icons back?

I'm absolutely furious about behaviour of tabs in the latest firefox update. I haven't change anything and I cannot play youtube videos and I've been able to do it normally until this last, bloody update! I've tried to disable media.wmfv9 or some other crap and it didn't work. I've tried anything in terms of mozilla support and it didn't FKN worked!!! I cannot stand another "oops, your tab has crashed" or "oops, firefox just eat ur ram and doesn't give a damn about them features, please restart it". You have like 2 weeks to fix it or I'm migrating to comodo dragon. FK U EOT. Just fix it.

I just installed version 89.0, and I would swear that my top bar went from one bar (containing the tabs, the address line, home button, fwd and bk arrows, etc) to 2 bars (the top bar containing the tabs and the bottom bar containing everything else). Is there a way to put everything on one bar?

I'm really not liking the new look of the tabs in the 89 update to the point where I'm about ready to find a new browser. Is there a way to revert to the previous look?

Firefox updated to version 89.0. I worked through most of the issues that bugged me. Thank you to those who previously posted questions/solutions. However, i still have not found how to fairly easily move the tabs below the URL address bar (e.g. without modifying code, hacks, etc). Firefox developers, please provide the functionality in Firefox to do this. Thanks!

Any way to Undue the new version ?? This suks...No Like the search to automatic transfer or jump to the address bar. Will be switching over to Google Chrome if not....Did they NOT learn thru Yahoo??? You do not give us a choice we move on.....

Once again, Firefox is updated, and once again, Tabs are broken.

Tabs belong UNDER the Bookmarks Toolbar. That's where I like to have them, that's where they should be, and for whatever god-damn reason, every major update leaves me scrambling to try and repair Firefox.

USUALLY, they're forced on top, which is awful and unusable in practically every way, and I have to figure out which NEW change I have to make to userChrome.css to make Firefox usable again.

THIS time, they just disappeared. Gone. ONE tab visible; the current. Floating freely at the BOTTOM of the screen, for some fucking reason??!

Yes, I "fixed" it by deleting my userChrome.css, which has them now in the utterly unusable "above everything" position. I guess I'll wait until someone figures out how to repair Firefox --- AGAIN...

Could you just fucking STOP breaking the browser? This shouldn't be a thing. I should not be struck with that sinking "OH NO!" feeling, every time Firefox starts up with a "We've updated" message....

Vertical tabs are superior to horizontal. Using extension that adds a vertical tab for open/pinned pages. Top horizontal tabs are just taking up space so want to remove them. How do I remove them?

Hello. Since the last update (89.0), there is an annoying behaviour. The menu bar has kept a normal height, but the tab bar and tools bar are oversized (both are almost twice the normal size). The bookmarks items also are overgrown. Does anyone experience the same? Thanks in advance. hhall.

I would like to be able to reopen the last closed tab even if it was in another window with only one shortcut. (CTRL+Shift+T is bound in my mouse and I got used to that behavior in chromium)

Say I am on youtube and I click the link to customize my channel, but when I do it loads for a second and then closes. This started after the update that changed the looks on the browser. Can you please help?

My browser opens new links in new tabs. I want them to open new links in the same tab.

Others inquire about the same issue get a response saying:;

"Did you try it? Some sites add a target="_blank" attribute to links. Links with these attributes are supposed to open in a new window when left clicked. However, Firefox by default opens these links in a new tab in the current window. By setting browser.link.open_newwindow to 1, these links will instead open in the current tab/window."

I need step-by-step help understanding what I need to do to set the browser are suggested in the above response.

When I browse eTOCS from scientific journals in my Gmail inbox, I would like to queue up a bunch of promising sounding articles in tabs behind the focused tab (gmail), thus completely finishing my perusal of the table of contents before checking out the articles that interested me. Under Preferences->General-> Tabs I have "open links in tabs instead of new windows" checked and "When you open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" unchecked. Despite this, every time I click a link in gmail, it creates a new tab and switches to that tab, so I have to repeatedly switch back to the gmail tab.
