I am in the process of switching from Windows 10 to Linux Mint (Cinnamon 22.3) as my daily operating system. My current Windows version of Firefox is 147.0.2, for Linux it is 147.0.3. installed from the official repository - also known as the Software Manager in Linux Mint. I've configured Firefox exactly the same in both operating systems. Running under Windows when saving a Bookmark, Firefox displays the well known Globe Icon, but after reloading the page the Favicon appears immediately (provided it is available of course). Under Linux Mint this does not happen, even if one restarts Firefox. Only after a system reboot Favicons of revisited pages become visible. Is this a fundamental difference between the Windows and Linux version of Firefox or am I missing something? I've installed the Firefox extension for caching the favicon, but it made no difference, If I run it, still the Icon does not appear until system reboot. I couldn´t find an answer in the help database nor on the Internet in general.

This difference might seem insignificant for most people but for me it is. When shopping on the internet I bookmark a lot of pages of products to be able to make quick comparisons. The Favicon is of great help because it makes it easy to identify the different shops. Of course I could manually change the bookmark name to include the shop name, but Icons are a much better clue and leave more room in the bookmark name for other information.

I just learnt that my internet provider is blocking some domain like web.telegram.org which is very annoying. The solution i found on internet is vpn or tor browser.

Am i expecting something from firefox that it cant help me with?

A free vpn or tor browser like functionality?

I am so sorry to go away from it but look like if there is no way firefox can help me secure my privacy then i will have to.

I run Firefox on Fedora Linux (Silverblue). For several releases I've noticed that the reader mode only displays the Close Reader View, Text and Layout, and Theme options and nothing else i.e. no content.

When I run it in troubleshooting mode, it works. I've tried disabling all my extensions, deleting all my extensions,restoring the browser to default settings but nothing makes a difference. I'm always on the latest release (currently 147.0.3). I currently have multiple profiles, but it didn't work even before I rebuilt them. I'm out of ideas.

I can't upload files such as photos to AI generators.When I try to upload the list of folders pop up but when I click on any of the folder the content I know is there doesn't appear. Why? At the bottom of this question area there is an image upload option but for some reason I am unable to access my files to upload. I am perplexed.

I am not a computer nerd I can only describe what is happening. I am addicted to puzzles and do them every day but am encountering problems nearly every day this week of the puzzle pieces not responding to mouse and have to shut down the computer. At other times I am kicked out of the site and returned to my desk top. No amount of trying to then get back into firefox is useless until much later on. Why is this happening?

It seems that a few days ago my Firefox was (involuntarily) updated in the course of another update (Linux): Previously, after Ctrl-S I could immediately start editing the name of the downloaded .html file, usually replacing it: the .html was retained, but the main part was highlighted and replaced automatically with the first typed character. Now one has to highlight the name with "select all" and also take care of the .html suffix. This is highly inconvenient if one wants to change the (usually) much too long names. Is there a chance (option?) to get the old behaviour back? (By the way, not connected with this change: It is annoying that Firefox silently changes `:` to `_´ in desired names though these are perfectly legal in Linux.) (and I would like to be able to use Firefox save to command from the command line.

Kubuntu 24.04 with various Firefox iterations including 149.0.2. It happens on stand alone, snap and flatpak versions. I do not know what triggers this problem. As far as can tell it only occurs on Wayland and not on 'X'. .... After using Firefox normally for a while I first notice the problem when I can't click into the separate search box on the toolbar, then I find I can't drag the tabs around as per usual. Then, if I click on a toolbar icon it does not respond. In summary, the toolbar becomes inoperative. I do have 9 pinned tabs but I can often have many more standard tabs up before I ever notice the problem and, today, when it occurred I only had 3 additional tabs up. So, I can't tie the problem to the number of tabs.

If I open a tab to a specific google sheet I use it won't let me use the split view option (it's greyed out)

I would like to be able to split view the sheet so I can keep an eye on the running totals while I am entering data elsewhere on the sheet.

I want to upload the current version of Firefox. However, the system Administrator (who is me) will mnot allow me to do so. How do I change settings to allow for the upload.

Hello, Firefox has been giving me some troubles lately and I can't figure out how to resolve the problem. Since I haven't found any way to consistently reproduce crashes, it is very hard for me to tell if Troubleshoot Mode also experiences the crashes, and the time I can spend doing that is very limited. As previously stated, it is very inconsistent, but relatively frequent, sometimes it crashes very soon and several times in a day, others it doesn’t at all. Sometimes it crashes with several tabs open, sometimes with only one; sometimes it crashes while using a webapp, others it does so on the newspaper page. It might be more frequent while there are Electron Webapps open, but it's more a hunch than anything, since sometimes it happens without those. There have been a reoccurring problem with Firefox that seems to show up in Linux, Windows, and MacOS. When I log into icloud, I get an error message that the icloud username and password is incorrect, even though the same password has been enter in Safari and other non-firefox browser without issue.

I have tried

• Run Firefox in safe mode.
• Clear icloud site data.
• Clear all Firefox browser data.

The only fix seems to be to create a new profile, which seems to point to a profile corruption issue. The problem is that the problem return after a while.
