Firefox suddenly stopped connecting to internet websites. I use McAfee anti-virus with their firewall. McAfee whitelists Firefox but I removed it from the whitelist and then put it back. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing with no change. I've removed all add-ons. I'm having to use a different browser but I want Firefox back.

I created a folder on my bookmarks toolbar, in there are more folder, entertainment , comparison sites etc. All were connecting up until a few days ago, now if I click on a link, it just does not connect. If I type in the search bar the site address it connects within seconds.

So even on a unprotected machine, some webpages VERY slow to load but not all. My internet provider, Virginmedia, is also my email provider and sometimes this email homepage times out. Had the same problem with win 10 and did think, wrongly, that installing win 11 would cure this. It did not. Any ideas on this. A good friend is a computer tech so you can get technical. In `task manger` anti virus etc has been stopped.

This problem appears on MacOS 10.13.3 but NOT Linux Mint 19.3 (Tricia).

On MacOS, that page loads and is momentarily visible; then the page/tab it's loaded in goes blank. On Linux, that page loads as expected and remains visible.

Notes:

The problem did not happen with Firefox 88.0.1/MacOS.

The problem does not happen with Firefox 98.0.2/Linux, i.e., it appears to be specific to MacOS.

The problem remains whether extensions are enable or disabled (one a time or all at once).

The problem remains after the cache has been flushed and pages have been reloaded.

The problem remains after Firefox has been (completely) shut down and (cleanly) restarted.

The problem does not happen with Chrome/Chromium on either MacOS or Linux.

The problem also happens on *some* other pages on CNN's site (but not all) and on *some* (but not all) pages of other sites but there doesn't seem to be a pattern that explains which URLs exhibit it and which don't. This suggests that it's not privacy settings or extensions or anything like that, because there's no reason for those to vary from page to page within any one site.

If I'm VERY fast on hitting the "X" that stops a page loading/rendering while in progress, and I get the timing just right, I can catch it before the page/tab goes blank. So it appears that Firefox is in fact fetching all the content and can render it, but then for some reason is blanking the page/tab once that's done.

The attached screenshot shows what the problematic page (from step 2 above) looks like on Linux. On MacOS it's blank, so I didn't include a screenshot of that.

i recently lost my computer to destruction. i have a number of files saved by Mozilla backup on a thumbdrive. i have several backup files dating from 2014 all the way until now. after re-installing Firefox on a new computer, i tried MozBackup to restore my old Firefox from the latest file dated a coupla of months ago this year. the files have names like Firefox 16.0.2 (en-US) - 2013-01-05.pcv or .pfc. when i tryt and load it into backup it saysit isn't a valid backup file. how can i get this to work?

For years I’ve had no difficulty accessing online my HSBC bank accounts in UK using Firefox. In recent days they have changed their security access method whereby their site now requests a security number generated on one’s phone using the HSBC App (it used to be a random number from an HSBC supplied handheld device) which then has to be input via my Windows 10 PC to access my data. If I use Microsoft Edge as browser, everything works fine, but when I try Firefox my system just hangs after I’ve put my bank ID into the HSBC opening page (the first security step) and simply never opens the next HSBC page which would ask me to generate the said code on my phone. Seems a browser related problem. Any ideas why Edge works but Firefox does not?

Hello, I have the question while using Firefox.

When I browsing the websites via Firefox, I found that Firefox uses two groups in keyshare(x25519,secp256r1), while other browsers use single group(x25519) in the keyshare. So I tried to find where I can set up keyshare part in my Firefox, but I cannot find it.

Can you explain where can I find the setting for the keyshare in the Firefox?

I am trying to use a new HP Spectre laptop which will be my all purpose home computer. I selected Firefox Browser as the default browser but I don't believe it has ever come up as my browser. It is loaded among many other apps (?). I used to call them programs (?). I get Edge, Chrome, Bing, and others, none of which I want or ask for. They just seem to appear randomly.

Which Mozilla version is the latest which includes ((update options )) I still use windows 7 32 bit My system is not compatible for 10 The new version makes trouble with window 7, so I uninstalled It goes crashing when opens I read many topics using old version does not solve the problem For me it solves When I install new version ( 90 or newer ) it shows black screen when opens But with old versions, it does not show --- Now I tried 75 it contains option but the update still runs though I have chosen Check for updates but let you choose to install them

I download then open many student files each day. PDFs open fine automatically, but never Word files. In the Applications settings dialog, I have tried to choose the file format docx and doc. But neither are recognised as a valid file type. I realise that Microsoft is a bully and Mozilla may be trying to discourage its use, but I and the students are stuck with Word. How come docs and doc are invalid and how can I persuade Firefox to open them?

Hello, I have encountered a lasting issue: Firefox' telemetry collection process causes a cmd window to pop up briefly. The windows sometimes lingers a split second later, and if I accidentally click it at that time, whatever program I'm in will get minimized and I'm back on the desktop with cmd window at front. You might want to have a look at that, I disable my telemetry for time being. Firefox version is 99.0.1 (64 bits), operating system is Win10 10.0.19043. Respond for other data you might need. I currently installed firefox but when I try to open it it shows a missing of the profile which I searched and the article said to make another profile by using window + r and I did but when I click on start firefox it shows an unexpected error prevented you to save changes and I searched abt this but this has no answer that is in my favour so can you help it would be great

A subscription service I purchased (Kine Mania TV) has on several occasions gone to a porn site. I have enjoyed many hours of wholesome TV series and movies at Kine Mania TV - but HATE it when smut shows up instead! Please advise - this is scary stuff for an old lady. I opened Firefox as usually, but passwords are missing, only logins are available. There is also a file called logins.json-1.corrupt in the profile folder.

Renaming it back to logins.json with restarting the computer does not work.

There are no previous versions of these two files available in the system.

Please let me know how I can recover passwords, may be with a special software.
