Dear Forum,

The AARP website hasn't let me log in for a few weeks. It gives the following message, and I don't know how to fix it. I looked in Firefox preferences, and AARP has all of its cookies listed. I'm not a bot, moving too quickly. I couldn't figure out whether Firefox allowed Javascript. Here is the message (but I deleted my IP and Proxy IP):

I am trying to add a new email address to my account so I can change the original one because it has been compromised. When i put in the new email I'm told there's "account already exists" I have no awareness of this account and can't find any reference to it in my paperwork. The new email address I want to change to is safe and secure. If in the past I did get a firefox account using the disputed email, How do I go about finding it? I'm using version 121.0.1

Subject: Urgent: Request for Account Restoration

Dear Firefox Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Ray Bann, and I recently experienced an issue with my Firefox Nightly browser after a system restore on my personal computer earlier today.

Following the system restore, my Firefox Nightly browser was successfully restored; however, to my dismay, all of my meticulously organized bookmarks and passwords from my Firefox account disappeared. Despite numerous attempts, I was unable to retrieve them using the Sync feature, even after multiple logins.

I kindly request your assistance in restoring my Firefox account to a previous state, preferably within the last 2-3 days, to ensure the recovery of my bookmarks. The information related to my account is as follows:

   Display Name: Ray Bann
   Primary Email: rayalessandrobann@gmail.com
   Secondary Email: ravasz.laszlo1987@gmail.com

If additional information is required to process this request, please let me know, and I will promptly provide any necessary details.

I understand the importance of data security and appreciate your prompt attention to this matter. Thank you for your assistance in restoring my Firefox account.

Best regards, Ray Bann

Can no longer add multiple Authentication Decisions to the same hostname for different certificates

For years we have been able to login to two different websites running on different ports on the same host with our Firefox browser (The last working version was 102.14.0-3.el7_9) our RHEL 7.x system. When I accessed the different sites, there was two Authentication Decisions, one sending one cert (We will call it CertA) to the system and the other listing sending a different cert (We will call that CertB) to the system, same hostname though.

I updated the Firefox browser to 115.7.0-1.el7_9 and ever since, when I navigate to the first website, it remembers the first Authentication Decision to send CertA to the system and works as intended. Then, I try to navigate to the second site and I never get prompted to pick a cert for the second site (CertB is what it should prompt for) and the connection attempt fails with a "Secure Connection Failed, Error code: SSL_ERROR_UNKNOWN_CA_ALERT" message.

If I go and delete the Authentication Decision for CertA, then go to the CertB site, I get prompted for the cert decision and I am able to login just fine. But, then if I try to go to the CertA site, I get the same error listed above.

I can use a band aid to check the "History > Always use private browsing mode" checkbox (Which never remembers the Auth. Decision) option in Firefox, then have to remember to close the browser each time I want to navigate from one site to the next. But I have never had to do that in the past and wondering if this is a new bug or if it is somehow considered a "Security Feature" or something.

I searched around the net a bit and couldn't find a way to manually add an Authentication Decision myself. Is that possible somehow with a config file edit on our Linux system somewhere?

Thanks kindly ahead of time for any consideration to my issue.

So I found this wonderful archived thread https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1260799 that helped me add microsoft 365's website to a blocklist json, which is great, since microsoft apparently decided it was going to start opening the site after I uninstalled microsoft 365 (go figure). So from here, I am wondering if there is a way to automate closing the tab after the site is blocked? Am I approaching this from the wrong angle maybe? Any advice appreciated! I just really don't like microsoft thinking it can open tabs on it's own to advertise a thing I clearly don't want.

PS if I am posting in the wrong topic, I apologize.

Sometime today Firefox decided to look for any PDF on a page I'm on and automatically download it and then open it on Adobe. Looking at a page with a PDF owners manual or something similar will instantly trigger the download once the page fully loads and open the PDF. I have run in troubleshooting mode and this still happens.

My current, and temporary solution has been to select the "Always Ask" to at least stop the download. Doesn't happen in Chrome and my default PDF viewer is set to Windows and is Adobe.

In my settings I DO have it set to save passwords. At first when I'd enter a new one, firefox asked 'save password?" and I'd click yes and carry on.

Now it no longer asks to save a new password even though I've checked to box to ask me.

It DOES ask if I update a saved password if I'd like to update that one. But will NOT ask me to save a new one.

I have to manually enter any new passwords.

I'm having an issue with Firefox where it doesn't remember my certificate choice when trying to access my company's RavenDB host. Each time I navigate to the site, it asks me to select the certificate again, even though I have chosen it literal seconds ago and ticked the Remember this Decision checkbox. When I navigate to the certificates settings and look in the 'Authentication Decisions' tab both the 'certificate name' and 'certificate number' for the host appear as (unavailable). This issue seems to be specific to Firefox, as I don't encounter this problem when using Microsoft Edge. Has anyone experience this before?

I am on a MacBook M2 Pro.

I have tried to open the session in an incognito tab, in case Firefox was trying to use another certificate.

Furthermore I have made sure that the certificate is not the issue since it works in Edge.

I have 2FA set up for a site with my yubikey. Comparing the workflow on Chrome and Firefox,

chrome: enter username/password -> press button to launch 2FA -> dialog pops up, press button on yubikey -> done.

firefox: enter username/password -> press button to launch 2FA -> dialog pops up asking me to use my mobile device, click "use a USB key instead" -> click ok -> new dialog pops up, press button on yubikey -> done.

Is there a way to turn the extra steps in firefox off? I do not want to use a mobile device passkey, I'm perfectly fine with my yubikey. Something in about:config maybe?

Just recently I realized that the master password does not apply to credit card information. Firefox on Mac and Windows, if a login password exists, allows us to require authentication to autofill, view or edit saved credit cards. Firefox on Linux doesn't allow this authentication. So, I'm guessing that the credit card information is stored in Linux in an insecure manner. This is true? Another question about Mac and Windows. Does requiring authentication for credit card processes mean that the card information is encrypted on disk? Or does the password only protect information from unauthorized viewing, and the cards are stored on disks in text form?
