I am running Firefox 144.0 on kubuntu 24.04.3 LTS I have lost sound on Firefox. I have opened the same sites in Chrome and the sound is working fine. It's only in Firefox. I have tried several sites including Udemy, YouTube, and radio programs, no sound from Firefox. The problem started in the middle of a Jit.Si session. All of a sudden the sound disappeared. I thought that restart Firefox would help, then restart the computer would help. But the problem has continued. The speakers is turned on the volume is up, just not a sound from Firefox. What to do?

Здравствуйте. Последнее время заметил следующую проблему. При открытии некоторых сайтов, где есть видео или транляции, колесиком мышки открываю нужные видео или трансляции в новых вкладках. Ситуация следующая. Если не спеша открыть несколько вкладок, например 5, после перейти к ним, то нужно нажать в центре видео/трансляции "плей", чтобы видео стало работать. НО, если открыть вкладки (так же 5 или более) и сразу же переключаться на них, то видео будет автоматически стартовать. Раньше так и было при добавлении нескольких вкладок с видео, а после переключения на них, видео сразу открывалось. Теперь - нет. В настройках ничего нигде не менял, проверял как на версии браузера для пк на 133..., так и на последней 137... Отключал все дополнения, в настройках сайтов давал разрешение для автовоспроизведения аудио и видео. Хочу отметить, что такая проблема на многих сайтах. На некоторых же всё работает как и раньше. Также отмечу, что переустанавливал браузер с полной очисткой. Железо у пк хорошее, озу 32 гб. Никогда проблем такого рода не было. Прошу помочь с решением проблемы.

This problem started yesterday. The sound in YouTube with Firefox is extremely low. As far as I can tell, the problem doesn't exist elsewhere. Other browers are OK with YouTube and other websites that have sound are OK with Firefox.

I reinstalled Firefox and rebooted the computer - still has the problem.

I'm using Windows 11 24H2 (home) on my desktop.

Only on firefox, the music on apple music keeps changing volume. I can hear it sound fine for a second but then it changes the volume to around half of what its meant to be. I dont see any settings to change it, its fine on other browsers, im genuinely unsure of what to do.

For many years, I have been exchanging video calls on Facebook.

Recent attempts to video call the same person I've been video calling for the past 3 years result in "your browser doesn't support video calls"

Have I been "hacked"?

Please explain.

I've seen many questions about this matter over the years, and thought I'd been lucky. Every link containing a .m3u file opened in my media player, WACUP. However ... after an update to version 143 it suddenly didn't. .m3u links opened as a text file in the browser window.

We have five windows 10 workstations in the home, and this happened with all of them.

I write webpages for a family intranet, and several thousand tracks are available for playing, so that was messed up too.

These are the steps I followed - unsuccessfully:

• Bulleted list item Checked file association settings in Windows 10. .m3u was associated to WACUP, my media player.
• Bulleted list item Checked file actions in Firefox. .m3u files set to open in WACUP.
• Bulleted list item Added the type="audio/mpgurl" in the anchor link for webpages I make.
• Bulleted list item Changed the default download panel in FF settings to "Ask". I could then get it to ask me to save or open. "Open" worked, as it this is tied to the system default audio player - nothing to do with FF.
• Bulleted list item A few other frustrating, but eventually inconsequential solutions that were in the realm of "I wonder if ...?"

So ... after all of this and a lot of investigation I noticed something interesting: All my playlists were in the format with just a listing of the filename, which as mentioned had been working for years:

Example "01 Queen - We Are The Champions.mp3".

Yet a playlist made in VLC had a different format: example,

"#EXTM3U

1. EXTINF:-1,01 The Beach Boys - Help Me Rhonda.mp3

01 The Beach Boys - Help Me Rhonda.mp3 "

SOLUTION

Having far too much time on my hands, I experimented with this, dissecting the various components of the playlist, and eventually found when adding "#EXTM3U" as the first line in the playlist, Firefox opened the playlist in WACUP once again when the link was clicked.

New playlist entry:

1. EXTM3U

01 Queen - We Are The Champions.mp3 02 ... 03 ... etc.

I've left the "type='audio/mpegurl" declaration in the link.

I don't know why this happened, but I hope somebody finds this useful in the future.

So now I have several thousand playlists to edit, although Notepad++ will make this easier, but by no means quick.

I have a Microsoft Surface Pro 8 with a Slim Pen 2. I do a lot of searching in google maps and have noticed that I can access google maps and can use pinch to decrease and expand the maps and if I open a street view I can use touch to move the field view around as it should be. The problem occurs is when I use my slim pen. Once I have used the slim pen to move a field or open a street view the touch capability stops working. I can still close the window and other things with the touch capability (system type functions), but within the browser it's disabled.

I have not noticed this occurring in any other web site or type. For example I can go to amazon and interchangeably use the pen and touch capability without issue.

I have tested this in Google Chrome and MS Edge and it does not disable the touch capability when I use the pen.

I can select the video on the thumbnail and then the thumbnail says playing but nothing is happening. No video and no audio. Videos on all other sites work normally

Hello, I'm having a problem on Windows 10. It's a fresh windows installation and I tried already some solutions: reinstalling firefox, deleting cache, refreshing firefox, private windows, no add ons, trouble shoot mod. Nothing helped. The problem seems to be with live stream, either on twitch.tv or youtube.

As the title says. I get this prompt on videos from different, yet particular websites and sources. And they fail to load. It's also happened where some video's work and some don't, side-by-side on the same website and session.

• I've tried clearing all of my cached data, my browser history, cookies, site-data, settings, and fill-out information. No avail.
• I've tried disabling all of my extensions and add-ons.
• I've even tried using google instead, but I just get constant loading on those particular video's with no thumbnail (As depicted in second picture).
• I've checked my video drivers for updates.
• I've tried reinstalling Adobe Flash Player, even though it says it's no longer supported.

Since it also might be happening in another browser. I understand how this might not be Firefox's fault. But I'm hoping you'll be able to help me still.

Go to about:config and set media.autoplay.enabled.user-gestures-needed to false to disable all kinds of autoplay.

I've noticed that HDR content on YouTube plays at apparently maximum brightness, which is overwhelming. The same video using Google Chrome behaves as expected. For example:

I'm running FF v135.0 and Chrome v133.0.6943.54. When using Chrome, the video brightness matches system brightness settings on my Macbook Pro (running Sequoia 15.3) but when I use FF, the video itself is incredibly bright, as if the white levels have been maxed out. It seems to be a problem with handling the HDR content. Even stranger, it's as if the browser is able to increase my screen brightness itself, but only in the video pane. I doubt that's actually happening, but that's what appears to happen. If I switch to another tab and then back to the video, it takes a few seconds for the video pane to increase extreme levels.

Also, I tried to take a screenshot of it but the screenshot doesn't show the extreme bright levels that I see when I'm using the browser.

I am using Pop OS. Videos are not playing in firefox. In youtube it shows loading infinitly. In reddit all videos become green. I tried playing a downloaded video it also become green. These are only happening in integrated mode. If I use hybrid graphics mode all works good. I attached the about:support page and about:config page.

I’m encountering a strange issue with Firefox. While playing YouTube videos at very low quality (144p) just to listen to music, my GPU usage spikes to 100%. This happens even when the video is not fullscreen and there’s minimal visual content.

System Info:

   Firefox Version: 140.0.2 (64-bit)

   Operating System: Windows 11 

   CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 8700F (no integrated GPU)

   GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE

   GPU Driver Version: AMD Adrenalin 25.6.1 

The issue goes away when I disable hardware acceleration in Firefox settings, but I’d prefer to leave it enabled for better performance elsewhere.

Is this a known issue with AMD GPUs or is there something else I can try to reduce GPU usage during playback?

When assigning a URL to the mediaplayer object it started appending the current path to the URL. Did not do that in prior version. You can see it automatically puts the current browsing URL and then the URL that is assigned. So the file will not load. I am a new firefox user and would like to use it 100%, but have been running into a few bugs. This one I have been unable to find this issue myself, so thought I would ask here. I use Qobuz to stream hi-res music up to 24bit/ 192kHz. Some albums do not have sound at that resolution. The file will load and timer shows the song is playing, but there is no audio. I can change the setting to stream at 16bit/44.1kHz and then I get audio. Again, this does not occur with all albums, some will stream at hi-res and some will not. An interesting note: the same file with no audio at hi-res on firefox will have audio at same resolution setting on chrome. The only thing I can think of is chrome is reducing resolution in the background, or maybe a DRM issue? I do have "Play DRM-controlled content" checked in firefox settings.

p.s. I am aware that streaming music through a browser is not necessarily the best way to listen to hi-res music, and my ears may, or may not hear the difference between the 16bit and 24bit. However, the issue is the functionality, or lack of.

When I play a video with the web player in Firefox that has AC3 audio, I get no sound.

Doing some research it looks like AC3 used to be patented so I assume that is why it isn't included in Firefox but since March 20, 2017 the patent for AC3 has expired so I'd think it's now OK to include in Firefox.

The same video works in Edge and Chrome.

I am using Latest version of Firefox (139.0.1 - 64 Bit). I have tried the "hardware acceleration" option on/off and Safe Mode as well. None of it can make Prime Video, Amazon Music or Spotify work! Surprisingly, the podcasts work in Amazon music but not the songs.

I am able to use these in Chrome.

Thanks in advance for the possible resolution steps!
