I have Thunderbird 115.15.0 on win 10 dell xps desktop and want to install Thunderbird on my new win 11 Dell xps. The microsoft store gave me ver 128.5.2. I read that if I use the same version I can transfer my profile from the old computer. How should I approach this? Should I figure out how to update the win 10 machine to 128.5.2 before transferring the profile?

Attempts to use Thunderbird to read my gmail have been failing for the last several months.

When Thunderbird tries to get mail from my account, instead a Google help web page (https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/32050?hl=en) pops up in a window that appears to be a Thunderbird window titled, "Enter credentials for [my gmail account] on imap.gmail.com". That page has a button to sign in with my Google account, but hitting that button simply brings up the same Google help web page.

I've tried deleting my gmail account from Thunderbird and re-adding that account as a new account. That just gets me to the same page.

The web page refers to Troubleshoot issues with Google Accounts > Clear cache & cookies

It appears to be focused on accessing Gmail from a browser such as Firefox. I don't understand how to translate that advice to doing something with Thunderbird.

I have the impression that the problem has to do with a GMail having moved to a different version of the IMAP protocol.

Right now, I've done an awkward work-around it by going into GMail on a browser and setting it to forward all my gmail to another email account of mine that does work with Thunderbird. However, I'm getting ready to just give up and move all my mail to a different mailer.

Has anyone got a fix for this?

I cannot find how to change the password in Thunderbird. I have read previous posts which refer to "Tools" then "Options" - I cannot find Options anywhere. Can you help please?

I bought a new computer and had to download Thunderbird again. I tried the most recent one, didn't like it, so randomly picked a previous release from 2023 (don't remember when I installed the previous one) and hoped for the best. In the past, I would keep some emails in my inbox and tend to them as needed and then keep or delete when I had done what was required. I would also need to go to my ISP email's page, to get spam email, because Thunderbird didn't provide me with those. When there, I would delete what was in the inbox, so I could easily keep letters there to a minimum. Now, however, when I delete something in my ISP's inbox, it deletes in my Thunderbird portal too. I can't find settings in my ISP's page to stop it from downloading automatically (so it won't duplicate what I've already received via Thunderbird), and I can't find any settings in Thunderbird, to ask it to keep what I have in my inbox, instead of deleting everything I delete with my ISP. Do I need to go further back and find an earlier release in order to be able to use Thunderbird as I used to do? Or can I tweak the one I have?

My computer crashed so I replaced the Kubuntu with the newest version. This also had the newest Thunderbird. After loading my Thunderbird I found that the gemail emails worked fine, however the att.net would not work. All of these work very well on the older Kubuntu but the newest version does not work with the att.net. I think this is the problem with the newer version of Thunderbird. How can I change the Thunderbird back to the older version so it will work. Any help will be appreciated. Can I revert back to the older version of Kubuntu which will have the older version also for the Thunderbird and fix the problem.

I have an issue that just popped up and have done everything I can think of to remedy it. So far, no good.... I have read some of the issue responses, but do not see anything that would be for my situation.

I have my Thunderbird linked to an email address with ProtonMail. Up until yesterday, I was receiving, and able to send, emails linked to/from ProtonMail. Now, when I try to receive messages, I get a message that states, "connection to the server 127.0.0.1 was refused." When I try to send a message, I get a message that states, "it failed." {See two error messages attached.}

I have checked all the settings and passwords - they are all correct and used to work.

Thank you for your time and help. Looking forward to hearing from someone.

I accidentally deleted my password in the privacy setting and don't know how to put it back in? It won't let me put it back in. I changed email in my email provider and it carried over but every time I opened the email, it asked for the password all over again. Barbara

My C drive has almost run out of storage space. It only has between 1 and 2 GB left. When I receive emails in Thunderbird with (big) images, do these images eat of my C drive’s storage with the same proportion as the size of the images attached in the emails – i.e. if the image is 10 MB, will there then be 10MB less left of the C drive’s total storage space?

And is there any way to move the whole Thunderbird (emails with images) over to the D drive, which has plenty of storage space?

I have three email account in Thunderbird, two are AT&T (bellsouth.net) and one is gmail. One of the bellsouth emails is VERY slow, reading and deleting, but the other two emails run very good, no problems at all with reading or deleting. I have read through many many similar but not quite the same questions in the forum and I have tried every one of the suggested things to try to fix this but it is still a problem. Any new suggestions?

Since then, a box persistently appears on my screen, asking for my password, which it then rejects, saying 'log-in failed'. I can't get rid of the box, which keeps reappearing. Please advise
