I use Greek letters Omega (Ω) and mu (μ) in electronics discussion, where the Greek Omega (Ω) is the symbol for "ohms" of electrical resistance to the flow of current, and Greek mu (μ) stands in for "micro" or millionths of an ampere of current (1μA is 1/1000,000th of an ampere of current flow).

I sent an email to others and my email account on which I use Thunderbird Mail (version 115.13.0 on Linux Mint). I artfully spelled in all caps the word "Communicator," using the Ω sign in the place of "O" and the μ sign in the place of a "U." I received the word with this spelling: "C?MM?NICATOR"

Checking in Firefox on my Gmail account's Sent folder, I found the Greek letters in good order. Firefox can use UTF-8 encoding.

I found a solved thread on the Stack Exchange. Look under Tools • Options, as it is in Windows, but in Linux that's Edit • Preferences • Display. I have neither Options nor Preferences in this version of Thunderbird, nor can I find anything about setting encoding in Edit • Settings. I should set encoding from Western to UTF-8 on both incoming and outgoing mail to see foreign characters.

Some info about my installations of Firefox and Thunderbird here: In order to not lose my profile when I need to reinstall Linux for whatever reason, I have both Profiles stored on an outboard disk that is treated as a permanent disk on the system. This move also gives the profiles room to expand as needed

This is a new Dell Precision 3260 with Windows 11 and a 1st time install of Thunderbird 128.1.1esr (64-bit)

By default Write, Reply, Forward are missing which may or may not be correct.

However the "View"->"Toolbars" ->"Customize" page shows all the buttons available but when any one is selected it cannot be dragged or saved, it's as if the customize option has been disabled.

Also the blue Save icon is always greyed-out.

I want to turn off the hover preview feature. First I went in settings, but that disabled only the thumbnail (browser.tabs.hoverPreview.showThumbnails in about:config is set to false and saved). Then I went in about:config and manually set browser.tabs.hoverPreview.enabled to false as well, that disables the unwanted feature completely.

But every time I restart the browser it's turned back to true (just hover.Preview.enabled, not hover.Preview.showThumbnails). Can I save my settings? It's annoying that I can't opt out.

I want to add the Print command to my Thunderbird toolbar. I right-clicked on the toolbar and clicked on "Customize." I chose the Print button and saved, but it's still not on my toolbar. It says "available for mail space only." I have no idea what that means.

It used to be less complicated.

Can I stop the popup warning about sending emails to group with all emails in the TO: field. I've been communicating this way with an open email list for decades, and the popup is very annoying.

When you have multiple (2) accounts with previous accounts, the passwords are many. I can not get logged in as the passwords I use are not working. My account does work on my Windows 10 and I am on a Mac mini. I am working with Optimum.net server. I know, today, there are network across the world with problems. MicroSoft, it seems. All of this does not help my situation to get my email running on Thunderbird. I have been working on this for three days now. Thanks for any comments or questions to help me. Thunderbird 128.1 ESR

I want to add a 'MOVE' button to the message display toolbar in addition to 'REPLY', 'JUNK' 'DELETE' etc. I right click on an empty area and nothing, I click on the MORE drop down and there is no option to add MOVE, I click on the "CUSTOMIZE" option in the drop down and it does not give me the option to add actions.

I go to VIEW on the menu bar > TOOLBARS > CUSTOMIZE and it gives options to add MOVE, I click on it and it outlines it in blue, but the SAVE button is greyed out.

Is there a way add a 'MOVE' button to the message display toolbar?

Hi, When receiving an email I want to reply by making a text comments in the received text, with clear identification of what is my new addition. E.g. by starting my lines with my initials and a new colour of my comments. I.e. An in-text-dialogue Is this possible to configure in Thunderbird? Br / Gunnar Sjolander

Hi, Most of the time when I search, the engine automatically used is Bing and not Google. This is despite setting Google as default.

Is this an annoying bug? Or am I doing something wrong?

Is there any way to set up TB to have only ONE Delete action per keypress? That does not mean a limit of one message per Delete keypress -- for example, if multiple messages are selected, then a single Delete keypress should delete all selected -- but just that the Delete key must be released and pressed again for successive Delete actions.

[Searching on this topic before asking, I noticed a number of questions regarding multiple unwanted or inadvertent Delete actions, which all seem to boil down to this question, but could not find an instance where this simple question was asked, let alone answered.]

I could not find anything in TB Settings or Config Editor (searching "delete", "keypress", "key"). There were a few suggestive Config Editor variables containing "key", but none seemed on-point. Is there any documentation on Config variables?

I have about 30 user/password accounts logged when I use my Firefox account on Windows PCs but here on my new Apple Mac tablet, I do NOT see/get any of those accounts. Is there something I need to do to enable this to work?

I finally upgraded to TB 115.4.0 from 102 and it is ok. I'd like to set some UI preferences; specifically to email list pane header and three panes (folder, email list, events) lines-per-inch (density). With regards to density I only have three options; small, medium, and large. I'd like something between small and medium. In addition, I'd like to alter the background color of the email list pane header and, perhaps, the email pane and events pane headers.

Since userChrome.css no longer works (I couldn't get it work at all), how do I go about altering this?

Recently started using Thunderbird for three email accounts. Happy with it. I've just changed Your Name for one account, but when I send an email the old format of Your Name is shown as the sender. Can't find a way to correct that. Colin F

I recently explored the backgrounds on Firefox. I choose one of the, because they look really nice. But after I changed my Firefox Data Collection and Use settings the background disappeared.

Why do you have to keep "Allow Firefox to send technical and interaction data to Mozilla" and "Allow Firefox to install and run studies" enabled?

I realize Facebook doesn't have a spell check feature,but is there a way my browser, Firefox, which I already have spell check enabled can somehow spell check Facebook when I chat? Can someone help? Thank you.

The cursor in Thunderbird is difficult to see when composing emails. My Windows settings have not been customized. All the online articles suggest changing Windows cursor or mouse settings, and although that does change things for Windows, it does not affect the cursor size or color in Thunderbird. Are there any ways to make the cursor darker so it's easier to see?

Presently I have minimize Thunderbird to tray icon set, this is fine. But I want Thunderbird to minimize to tray icon when I click the 'X' instead of closing out altogether. Since there's no setting for this, is there some kind of secret sauce like an add-on or a manual mod of the registry to enable this?
