I know that nobody cares out there but I'd like to tell you so you understand why. Have used Thunderbird for quite a while. Recently, however, I have WAY too many mystery problems: server connections timing out or unavailable, disappearing emails, correspondents NOT getting my emails, me not getting their emails. I've had to reinstall and setup the program several times in the last few months. Each time, new problems. Really HATE to abandon independent developers/organizations in favor of commercial programs, but I need a app I can rely on. Gonna see how I do for another couple of weeks. Is there an app that can scan settings and flag problems? Program's getting fairly complicated. Remember Scotty, "The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain."

today Thunderbird doesnt send nor discharge emails from gmail. I've seen that yesterday (december 10) it was an update. I dont know it the problem it's related or not, but the program doesnt work, it seems that it tries to connect with server but it cant. If I send an email from Gmail page it works.

Hi there, I recently switched to thunderbird and it's been working great on Windows desktop but try as I may I can get it to work on android. I followed the prompts to export the settings and that all seemed to work but the app won't connect to the incoming and outgoing servers. I've checked and the details are the same as the desktop (via Bridge) but it just says failed to connect every time.

I'm also only showing an outbox and no other folders in the app. I searched the forum and found others with this issue but no solutions. Is this a dead end and I'm better off going back to Outlook or is there a solution to this?

Issues with internet connection between devices

So I started using Firefox on my older and newer laptops, but I've noticed that on my older laptop it has started giving me the message "You must log in to this network before you can access the internet", although I am already signed in on my Mozilla account there too. My newer laptop has had no issues for the record. Both systems are running windows 11, both have the same account that I am using, etc. If it makes any difference, my older laptop is using an ethernet cable whilst the newer one is connected via Wi-Fi. When I ran into this issue yesterday on my old laptop, the issue somehow resolved itself after I created a bugzilla account, although I am unsure if this was coicidence, so now I am confused why the issue has showed up again. Awaiting any kind of help or advice, thank you.

Hi, I used Thunderbird on a portable computer in installing automatically my mailboxes without issue. Then the systems suggested me to upgrade to Windows 11. I did.

But since that time I can not more use Thunderbird because it cannot set up my mailboxes on outlook and a specific national operator.

Is there an issiue in usign Thunderbord under Windows 11 ?

So I have a self hosted Exchange and I have no problems using it from apps like Google Mail, Outlook and such, plus I can login directly to its .../EWS/Exchange.asmx through a browser. However, when trying with Thunderbird 145/Linux, I always get that username or password are incorrect, but it doesn't tell me exactly what went wrong and how it tried, so I'm in the dark why it is happening. Note: exchange's url is on a different domain than my account.

Basically it's either this message: Authentication error.

Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIMsgAccountManager.createIncomingServer]

Or similar if I try to get message from inbox.

Also weird things happen during configuration, like attached image (note that I've tried different URL permutations)

TLDR; how do I diagnose the issue, or ever better, how to connect? TIA

I have been using Thunderbird for months on my new computer. Last night when I brought it up, a new screen said "Unable to Connect" followed by good information like check the network connection, firewall, etc., make sure Thunderbird is permitted to access the web. Plus, the PC bubble communicated "Authentication failure when trying to connect to server imap.comcast.net".

I have checked everything (looked around) and all seems fine. However, I am a "senior" and maybe I missed some communication along the way. I am getting emails on my iPhone and on the Xfinity website, but Thunderbird is not connecting to the server now. Do I need to change any settings?

Is anyone else experiencing this? Also, with the current version of Thunderbird, there is no way to insure that I am receiving updates and have the most current version. I just installed Thunderbird 12.0 on my Phone (Galaxy Note20, Android 13). Account setting were taken from my Desktop PC using the QR Code. In all three Accounts only Mails in the Main IMAP-Inbox are shown. Subfolders (like "sent" or "drafts") are all found, but the messages inside will not be shown. It will only say "Load more messages" but does not find any. In K9-Maiil 11.1 this still worked, but I had to uninstall it as after the automatic update to 12.0 it suddenly kept crashing on startup.

Already tried to add my main account from scratch on my tablet (with a fresh install of Thunderbird 12.0), but the problem with empty subfolders remains.

Any thoughts on this?

I own the domain name sabbathcalendar.com which is redirected to my website at sabbathcalendar.org. Firefox consistently gives the following message:

"Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site. We can’t connect to the server at www.sabbathcalendar.com."

It doesn't matter how I enter the URL. When I simply enter "sabbathcalendar.com" in either Brave or Microsoft Edge, both browsers will immediately connect to my website at sabbathcalendar.org with no problem.

Issue with POP email downloading on only one email account - usa.net

OK, so I have 4 different emails on my Thunderbird account. I get the most email from my usa.net (Netaddress.com) account, but that has never been an issue -- as my inbox gets huge I just move the contents into a dated archive.

I have already looped back to the people at usa.net and all of my settings are correct.

Here is the issue: Out of nowhere, a few months ago, when I tried to download my USA.net email, it would stop after 100-200 emails. Also, it would NOT "register back" to USA.net and show the downloaded items as "gone" (I checked my settings; I am NOT leaving email on the USA.net server).

I even tried deleting a ton of emails on the USA.net server side via webmail, and it still just stops after 200 messages max. I then need to dump out what was downloaded to another folder or I get the error below (see upload).

I hadn't changed anything on my settings when this started. USA.net DID start a requirement several months ago RE using SSL, but I didn't have problems when I initially made the switch.

Help, please! When it stops downloading I either get no message, or I sometimes get the message shown.

How to fix please? Again, this is the ONLY email account that I have this problem with; if some kind of "limit" was being hit it wouldn't be letting me download from other accounts, including my "business" email (basically I use USA.net for all of my newsletters, online purchases, etc).

Ok I know this has been asked before but I can't find a way to fix this. When I click on ANY link in an email or even the menus, not even the help menu works, I get a "no app associated" error. My file associations for .htm, .html, http, https are all set in the default apps in windows. I can click on an email address and it works just not any other type link. This is in version 144.

I have been using Thunderbird for many years. I have 4 accounts that have all been set up and working fine. This morning the 2 yahoo.com accounts stopped working. I logged in to the impacted accounts using a web browser and password just fine. I then updated Thunderbird to 116.0 to see if that would fix the problem, but it did not. The outlook and gmail accounts are working fine, for now.

When Thunderbird attempts to download mail for the yahoo accounts, I get a large pop-up window with "Edge: Too Many Requests". The pop-up window is blank except for that error message. I get the small pop-up with the Authentication Failure message. Sometimes I get Retry, Enter Password or Cancel. But I never see a window that will allow me to enter my password.

I can send/receive mail from the accounts while logged in via a browser but authentication fails within Thunderbird.

Hi, Long time Thunderbird user here. I've not experienced this issue before. I am having trouble configuring Thunderbird to correctly setup a new Outlook account. I get an error message "The current command did not succeed. The mail server for patsycrowly@outlook.com responded: User is authenticated but..." The rest of the error is cut off by Windows notifications. Not helpful. I'm still using Windows 10 (choice would be a fine thing) on a PC. I've spent hours trying all the suggestions re setup online both Mozilla and MS Outlook, I'm sure you know how numerous they are. I understand that imap and using oauth are the way to go, so have avoided POP. I have allowed cookies, I have tried among other suggestions the most recent: - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1513917 and WavidDilly's response and solution 6/16/25, 2:20 AM. I have definitely checked that Thunderbird is enabled in Outlook and that both IMAP and POP are enabled. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the account (ensuring that relevant passwords were removed first (in case!)) an removed the data files before reinstallation etc. I am dreading that I may have to do the same with T'bird itself. BTW I am definitely using the latest version 144.0.1 (64-bit). I am a reasonably competent adult but sometimes find that the more recent versions of T'bird are not as intuitive as they once were; so please will you be kind and make your response very clear with simple instructions.
