I run Thunderbird 128.12.0esr 64bit on Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon.

Ever since I updated to this version 128.12.0esr, T-bird email manager has become almost useless. Constant freezing, constant repopulating at times and of course freezing. Including changing my folder configurations.

Every time I access the calendar it locks up my system. uses 5gb memory and 5% of CPU Freezing & Slowing the system. Often I have to close it to regain control over the rest of my programs.

I have a 32gb RAM, 12th Gen Intel© Core™ i9-12900HK × 14,

Each time open T-bird i am not always able to access one of my 5 email accounts. I have been using T-bird for over 10yrs so I have gone through some up/downs, but nothing like this before.

I shouldn't ever have any issues with any programs, especially on Linux based on my systems capabilities.

I see a lot of people are having issues with this version and nobody seems to be fixing the problems.

I need some actionable FIXES or to know this issue is being taken seriously before I abandon T-bird and try out something else. I'd like to have a functional T-bird.

For a few days now, synchronization and opening new messages from a Gmail account configured in Thunderbird have been very slow. I use Thunderbird 140.x, which is regularly updated, and the mailbox has been configured for at least 5 years. Only in the last week has the problem emerged, rendering it unusable. Timeout errors and opening a new message after 2-3 minutes. I've cleared the cache, the database, and re-indexed, but nothing has changed. I've deleted and reconfigured my Gmail account, but nothing has changed. My Gmail mailbox is about 45 GB (I've seen much larger ones without losing performance). I tried installing Thunderbird on a new, clean PC, but the same thing. Extremely slow. Google support hasn't found any issues. Do you have any other suggestions for getting Thunderbird back up and running? Thanks.

I have been using Thunderbird for many years, and it's been a while since I cleaned out my Inbox & Folders. I get about 1200 emails a week, so the clutter is extreme. Yet it is still stable, and now I am waiting to see at what level it falls over. Currently I have 84,544 emails in my Inbox, 131,597 in the Junk Folder,33,718 in Archives, 13,388 in another Inbox, and a whole heap which get deleted when I compact the system.

I reckon compacting it has got rid of another 200,000 or so this year.

Hi, Please help with my issue: There are 2 Firefox browsers running on my Windows 10 desktop. How can I find one to delete it. My CPU is running very high in Task Manager. My computer, being 7 years old (and without the space to upgrade to WIN11), has always been a bit slow with low RAM and storage. The swap from Chrome to Firefox essentially gave it a second life, as Firefox didn't need a lot of space to run. Recently, though, it locks up with almost every search, refusing to let me x out a tab and try to save myself for 3 minutes or more, and the bluescreens have come back, too. If chrome hasn't also gotten worse, I'm considering switching back. Does anyone know what happened? I haven't installed anything new.

It's really frustrating and disappointing, because I thought I had a solution when I swapped to Firefox.

I have checked a lot of other questions already but I can't seem to find a solution to my problem.

I have Firefox installed on an old Laptop with macos Catalina. Reinstalled it many times with and without extensions, without any data but it doesn't matter what I do, even on a blank slate of a new reinstall of Firefox it just takes way too long to load or doesn't load at all and then even hangs up so that I always have to force quit it and slows down the entire laptop. It also sometimes loads tabs only if I reopen them or have to go to an already open tap that has been working to be able to open it.

I have been feeling super frustrated for days because I can not figure it out.

Since I upgraded to macOS 26 I noticed an annoying issue. When closing Thunderbird window and going back to another application the focus is being kept by Thunderbird for a few second making it impossible to click on the other app.

Steps to reproduce:

• open Thunderbird
• close Thunderbird window (using Cmd+Q or clicking the red button on the top left corner)
• click on any element of the Desktop

Expected:

• the element is selected

Result:

• nothing happen

After a few seconds (from 1 to 3), the macOS menu change from Thunderbird to Finder and then everything works properly.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello! I have a question regarding Thunderbird version 144.0.1.

The server is configured locally and isolated from the Internet. There is an issue: when the network cable is unplugged (no network connection), saving received emails with attachments (for example, total file size of 14 MB) to the hard drive happens quickly — about 5 seconds. However, as soon as the PC is connected to the local network, the saving process for such attachments slows down significantly — up to 60 seconds.

I would appreciate your help with analyzing this issue and possible solutions. What could be the cause of this behavior?

I installed the Release update about 2 weeks ago and am having several problems with it and am just about ready to switch back to the ERS channel, but I thought I'd try this first and see if it's something I'm doing wrong.

The two most consistent and major problems I'm having are:

1. I will be going along happy as a clam and suddenly all the e-mails in my inbox just suddenly disappear. So far, at least, if I go to another folder and then back to inbox, they will come back, but this is very annoying!!

2. It is constantly running at 2/3 to 3/4 the speed that ESR was running at.

Why does saving an email to the local hard drive take significantly longer in newer versions, for example Thunderbird Setup 144.0.1, compared to older versions like Thunderbird Setup 115.18.0? What could be the reason for this? How can this issue be resolved or what might be causing it?

2. Could you please inform me which parameters in the advanced settings have been added or changed in the new Thunderbird version 144.0.1 compared to version 115.18.0? Also, what might cause a significant increase in the time it takes to save a received email to the local hard drive in the new version?

Firefox runs in background even after menu quit option with clear all browser history (proper exit). Firefox heats my phone while using. I am using Android 13 phone.

Hi My local folders disapear, and I got an sugestionfrom Toad-hall, that i followed: Renaming the folder names to shorter names and download from the oficial Thunderbird download. When i removed thunderbird and install agin it works by magic, but each time i close Thunderbird and open it again my local folders are diapeared Kind regards Ole Storm Mikkelsen

Will this fricking "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional" B.S. ever be fixed? Firefox didn't have this issue for years now for almost a year every time Firefox starts up on a cold boot I get this idiotic non-sense message!. I have to close the browser I JUST OPENED and reopen in. This error is pure B.S. as again cold boot, just launched there is NOTHING other than Firefox that might be accessing the various sql.db's...so if this message is to be believed Firefox is blocking Firefox from Firefox... FIX THIS!

Third Contact. A few questions in hoping to resolve this on-going issue of Firefox 144.0 crashing on my iPhone.: What is GitHub … never heard of it? Why should I trust it. How is my privacy secured? Why do I have to go to GitHub for a Firefox issue? What is Xcode? How do I get it? How do I connect to it? After many years with Firefox why is this happening? Can I back grade to the previous Firefox? As a long time Firefox user and Mozilla donor a worse case option is for us to scrub FireFox from all of our systems pending Firefox issuing a corrective up grade.

Hello. My tablet, has limited memory, due to its age. I am now finding that one of the main reasons why it is so slow is because whenever I open firefox, it opens multiple firefox processes which drain the memory and in some cases crashes the system. I have followed all the advice given to reduce these multiple processes, however nothing seems to work and at least 6-8 firefox processes open each time I open it. I have unchecked the recommended performance settings as well as hardware acceleration boxes. However, I cannot find where to set the content process limit to 1. Please tell me how to do this and if there anything else I can try to stop it opening multiple processes or I may be forced to ditch Firefox altogether for an alternate such as Bing, Chrome or DuckDuckGo.
