Is there a way to get checkboxes to select messages or at least a plan to get it in a future release? I saw that there has been an add-on in the past, but not maintained for some years and therefore not possible to use in newer versions. Yes, I know that you can select messages with ctrl and mouse click, but there are others in my family who are not familiar with it and reluctant to get used to it. (have used gmail for too long).

My internet service provider is Optimum. I do have an optimum account for my email. But my account for my emails uses Thunderbird. I kept getting alerts that I couldn't move emails to specific local folders to save. So, I went into my optimum account and deleted the emails in my inbox, junk and trash. when I returned to my thunderbird account, all of my emails in my inbox that I have already read, are gone. Wiped clean, no emails any longer. Is there someway to retrieve these lost emails?

I want to upgrade the hardware of a friend - and so I moved the homedir of the user to the new system, as I have done every time before in my life. But in this special case Thunderbird will not start with the used profile.
Thunderbird generally starts with e.g. the -P switch. But it will not start the default profile of the user. I tried to go this way concerning the versions 115 -> 128 -> 140 without success. I deleted all lock files, if there were any. I spent a lot of time with e.g. copilot - but it could not help me. I'm at a loss.
Is there any documentation with a kind of step-by-step instructions? Can you give me a hint, please?

I have been dealing with this issue for the last several thunderbird versions. I am currently running 115.18.0
Everytime I try to configure an existing gmail account for thunderbird via File -> New -> Existing email account
I specify my Name and gmail email address, then password for the gmail account.
The google authentication pop up launches " Mozilla Thunderbird wants to access you Gmail" and I click "Allow"
As soon as I click "Allow" I am asked to download a file.
Google gemini says this file is a sign that Oauth is not being accepted by thunderbird.
What I have tried. I verified Thunderbird is set to accept cookies I have verified there are no previously stored gmail passwords (as this has never worked) I have changed my default browser from Firefox to Brave and verified the same behavior

While trying to locate the ID#s for all 15 different email accounts managed by my TB desktop app, I discovered that there are two instances of a gmail account, but with different ID#s (although only one appears in my home screen). I've found no way of determining which one is valid, and I can't risk losing my main gmail account if I try to delete one and choose the wrong one. Does anyone have any ideas I might try, to determine which one is the "extra" and how this happened? I've tried looking at the source code for emails in that account, but can't find any ID# referenced there.

Dear Sirs' Happy New Year I have a problem that I have had no luck in resolving via the Thunderbird Help option. My problem is that recently I have been unable to receive any images on all my mail which I receive within my Inbox. I have chcked the mail within Thunderbirds Server (ie BT), and all the images do appear on all the mail at this source. I would be most grateful if you could please help me in this matter. I have just acquired a replacement PC and installed Thunderbird, and (as happened on previous occasions) I am unable to send emails because the outgoing server settings that were automatically detected are incorrect, and even feeding in those I recorded on the last occasion does not work. I have had a long conversation with somebody at Plusnet Help Desk, who agrees that the outgoing server should be mail.care4free.net and the port number should be 25, and the connection type should be SSL. He also thought that on my "Account settings" screen there should be an option "Account actions" through which I may be able to solve the problem, but this is not there. I think that last time I had this problem, some genius on this forum managed to solve it, and hope that this will again be the case!
