Why does touchpad scrolling not work in Firefox?
Scrolling a web page from the touchpad on my laptop (IBM T42, quite old) does not work in Firefox (the page sits still). I have tried the remedies suggested in response to questions from two other users but with no effect. What might be the interesting reason for Firefox to exhibit this surprising, non-standard behaviour? Kind regards \ Jan Altena

Try to modify the ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled pref on the about:config page from the default value -1 to 0 or 1 to see if that makes the touch pad work.
Close and restart Firefox after changing the ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled pref.

Thanks cor-el! Your solution works fine. After setting the ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled to "1" and restaring FF, vertical scrolling from the touchpad now functions normally. Great! Kind regards \ Jan Altena
